On July 2rd we went to Florida by airplane. We had booked an apartment at Radisson Ocean Front, Melbourne Beach. It had a great location. The beach was perfect. White sand and big wawes. We drove to the other coast: The Mexican Gulf. Here we stayed for 10 days. Here, the beach was even more beautiful. The sand was snow white and it felt like flour. The water was very warm 30 degrees! I am sure you can understand why we spent hours in the water.

We saw lots of sea animals like dolphins, turtles, alligators, pelicans, and even some manatees- You can see a mother manatee with her baby in the picture below

Games

While beeing on the beach we played different kinds of games. We played soccer with some other tourists and we also competed to find the quickest swimmer. In the evenings we played cards - Whist. I wonder if you know how to play Whist

When you are in the US, you have to grab a hamburger and of course we did - with a banana SHAKE....delicions. One night we went for dinner in a very nice restaurent called Salt Rock Grill. We all had steaks - the Filet Mignon. We were sitting out side at the inner shore. And believe it or not, a manatee was swimming right out there. Awesome!
Anyways, if you ever go to the Indian Shores you should definitely pay this restaurant a visit.

Geography

The capital city is Tallahassee but I am sure you have much more about Miami, Orlanda (Disney) and maybe Tampa. We stayed near Tampa and I am amazed by the beautiful bay area.
Much of the state of Florida is situated on a peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean and the water is so nice and warm.
Florida is bordered on the north by the states of Georgia and Alabama,. It is near The Bahamas and several Caribbean countries, particularly Cuba. Florida has 131 public airports. One of the biggest is Orlando (MCO) and this is where we flew in.
The climate is very different from the Danish climate. It is very hot during summertime and almost every day a thunderstorm will water the excotic palms and flowers. Did you know that Florida is called the Sunshine state and the fact that name Florida is flower in Spanish

Culture

The first thing I think of when I hear the word culture regarding the US is, how the Europeans crossed the Atlantic Ocean back in the 1600s striving for a new beginning. The American culture is influenced by the diverse settelers and that makes the American culture so varied. The Indians were -and still are - an important part of the culture but because of the horrible way they were treated is seems more like a black chapter in history than recognizable - something to be proud of.
