We finished the first day of our plenary session for Patnuro. We were warmly welcomed by the faculty of ITL and by the hardworking associate deans from different faculty. Dr. Bedural's message was about Freire's Pedagogy of the Oprresed. She also reminded to keep the torch burning and to always keep the future of our country in our minds. It was a touching moment for me. I feel fuzzy and teary-eye whenever our professors would encourage us and remind us of our duties as a teacher, as a social scientist, and as a citizen.

I had mixed feelings when the term started. I had many doubts and questions. I am also anticipating our grade level designation. I wanted to stay in the basic level because it would be the track that I would be pursuing after graduation. Aside from my career crisis, I am also curious to the catholic education system. I don't know what kind of school environment they have. I don't know how strict they are with their rules like what I hear from other catholic schools.

Dr. Delos Santos introduced the supervisors of the PT students and the school principals of the catholic schools. The first principal we met was from St. Joseph of Gagalangin School. Dr. Jesusa discussed the learning program of catholic schools. She explained to us that all the 5 schools are under Fr. Nolan's supervision and that their system works for all of the schools.

I woke up on the right side of the bed today. We were also informed of the face to face pick-up of our PT polo shirt uniform at PNU. I was so excited to go back to PNU after 2 years! We had our 1pm to 3pm plenary session today.

The second day of the Patnuro focused on the actual set-up of synchronous classrooms. The two principal earlier gave us an overview of how they teach and how the students are monitored in an online classroom.

Principal Benedicto Pascual from ESPS discussed about effective classroom management. He emphasized the importance of practice and patience. I appreciated how he did not pressured us to be all-knowing and that he acknowledged us as a practice teacher who are only starting in this career. It helps us to welcome change and to appreciate the learning process.

Next speaker was Principal Elizabeth Pastor from MCS. She took us virtually to Manila Cathedral School. I was amazed how spacious their buildings are and with their facility. Well, in the first place, it is a PAASCU accredited school. I heard some positive feedbacks from the BECED students who were deployed to MCS. They told me how smooth their deployment was and how accomodating the CTs in MCS. So, I was kind of hoping to be deployed here. Principal Pastor gave tips for us to follow when we already handle our first online class. She was a very effective and engaging speaker. I learned a lot from her.

Today is the last day of our Patnuro sessions. I felt nervous while waiting in Zoom because I taught we will receive our assigned schools today, but we didn't. I got nervous for no reason. Well, at the end of the day, I still learned a lot.

The first speaker was Dr. Montebon from ITL. He discussed about classroom based action research and its importance for achieving an effective classroom experience for both the teachers and the students.

The second and last speaker for the day was Ma'am Chua from HCCS. She taught us about the assessment in the new normal. She also reminded us about the difference and the purpose of formative and summative assessment. While listening to her, I remembered how Prof. Simeon taught us the different types of assessment and the importance of using HOTS in formulating questions.

We got our uniforms and pin on time for this occasion, but more than that we got to fulfill our dreams in today's event. The Pinning Ceremony is a memorable experience for every graduating student. It marks the beginning of a lifelong teaching journey. It serves us our doorknob for future endeavors, success, and adventure.

Sadly, the event was held virtually unlike other universities. We did the event plainly in our house. I attached my pin to myself like how I always been with my education milestones, alone and independent. I was not sad nor happy with the event. The ambiance and presence of the event was sleep inducing. Unlike if the event happened in PNU.

We had a meeting with Prof. Colis today. As our supervisor, she oriented us to our system as practice teachers. She laid out our requirements and discussed to us the formats that we would use for our lesson plan. She also showed us some sample e-portfolios to help us visualize our requirements.

While listening to our meeting, I was thinking how I would manage my time and distribute the task throughout the week. I was nervous at the same time I was also excited. I feel I am really becoming a teacher. I was nervous because of the new experience and the expectations Prof. Colis have with us, with me. Still, I am excited to teach and to meet my students.

Prof. Delos Santos called for an emergency meeting to deploy us formally to our school assignment. I was assigned at Manila Cathedral School together with the rest of our class. I am actually nervous in entering a catholic school because of the hearsays about the parents and the priests or nuns. I was afraid that I am not too Catholic to lead the students and be an example to them. I was afraid that I will be judged because of my "sins". Well, at the end of the day, I am not perfect in the eyes of man in anyway possible. It has been part of our lives to be criticized and judged, what counts is our joyful soul.

We had officially met the teachers of Manila Cathedral School. They welcomed us to our new journey and oriented us with the class routines, schedules, school policies, class policies, and the mode of learning. Principal Pastor opened the meeting and transferred us to Mr. Gonzales, the Araling Panlipunan department head.

Mr. Gonzales is a PNU alumna who have a close relationship with Prof. Simeon who happened to be our class adviser. Mr. Gonzales was intimidating at first because of how he talks, but later on he showed to us how proud he is of our university. He told us how excited he is to work with us because of his expectation on our performance as a student teacher from PNU. I felt so much pressure on how he present us to other AP teachers. It also felt awkward because I feel the other teachers are being left out from the conversation.

The meeting ended with the announcement of our assigned grade level and cooperating teacher. Mr. Gonzales created a group chat afterward where he sent us the schedule of our CTs. I was assigned to the 7th grade under Mrs. Durien G. Bendaña. I will be teaching Asian history! How exciting!

Manila Cathedral School gave us a good impression and I hope they did too with us. I'm hoping for a smooth sailing deployment and for a fruitful experience with them.

Mr. Gonzales told us to attend the 7:40 a.m. class assembly and morning prayer everyday. For my case and my partner Jun Jun, we will be under Mr. Caluag for today and for the days we do not have a class under Mrs. Bendaña. Today is Thursday which mean we will be meeting Mrs. Bendaña next Tuesday and Wednesday as per our assigned schedule.

We were instructed to observe other teachers on days we do not have a schedule and for today we will be under Mr. Caluag who is a Grade 10 teacher handling Contemporary Issues. We joined the PTs under him in observing his 8 a.m. class to 1:30 p.m class. Compared with our schedule, his schedule is jampacked because he have a full teaching load unlike out CT who is a grade school coordinator. He also have 4 PT under him to handle and plus 2 PT because of us.

He introduced us to each of his class and he process what we observe every after class or during class when the students are in the breakout rooms. I noticed how he trust his students to work with their groups unmonitored. His reason was because they stop discussing when he enter the breakout rooms because they're shy and uncomfortable when their ideas are being critiqued already. However, he change the strategy with the unruly class. Instead of breakout rooms, he discussed to them.

I picked a lot of idea and strategy when it comes to handling a class online. Mr. Caluag helped us a lot in being comfortable with the school and the students.

I started the day by joining the assembly of Mr. Caluag because Mrs. Bendaña do not have her own advisory class. Immediately after the 7:40 a.m. assembly, I joined the 8:00 a.m. class of Mrs. Bendaña with St. Gregory the Great.

Me and Jun Jun were introduced to the class. We told what university we came from and what we anticipate for the next weeks to come. The students look interested maybe because this will be the first time since the pandemic that they had a practice teacher to handle them.

After the introduction, Mrs. Bendaña continued with her class routine. The students will have a 20 minute quiz. The same goes with the 10:00 a.m. class of St. Pius X.

I noticed a lot of good points and few points for improvement for our CT. For her best practices, she have a good routine like welfare, place and device checking. She also make sure the students are listening by asking small participation tasks for them like raising their hands or sending a message. She also use a focus mode setting to highlight only the speaker. Her reinforcement is also good to motivate positive behavior. However, I notice not all students are listening because of her voice modulation and lack of energy maybe because she is pregnant and near her due date.

After the quiz yesterdays, both section will have a new topic today. It will be an introduction to the topic nationalism and patriotism.

Mrs. Bendaña used the same routine and approach in teaching for St. Gregory the Great. On the other hand, she was less formal and used more jokes and energy with St. Pius X. She used different strategy for each class depending on their class characteristic and profile. St. Gregory the Great is a bit shy and less participative in oral discussion but excel in written outputs, while St. Pius X is very active in recitation but is slow to submit written outputs.

I notice some good strategies our CT used in teaching like breaking stereotypes with small and big countries, asking students to use their own words to define a concept, being patient with the student's answer, and change the pace of the lesson according to the students' ability to grasp concepts.

Today is Thursday which means we have no classes with our CT so she asked us to observe other classes. She also gave our topic for next week today and gave us until Sunday ti submit our Lesson Plan and PowerPoint Presentation.

I observed PT Joanne Palisoc today under CT Danica Zulueta. Her topic is about inflation. She used the acticity "Answer to Mine" to catch the student's attention during Balik Aral. She used other activities like Balitaan and "Hula-Picture" to give the students an insight with what the lesson for the day. She also used an activity where the students will give opinion by giving a thumbs up and thumbs down which was a great activity and very student-centered. However, she used too much activity and less oral discussion which I think consumed a lot of time.

Antoher PT that I observed today still under Ms. Danica is PT Cath Ayoban. Her energy and activities are good but she speak too fast and tend to repeat the words or phrase she already said. She also do not have a good flow of discussion maybe because this is her first time and she is nervous.

I observed PT Shannen Nellas today under Ms. Heidi teaching Grade 8 World History. She discussed about Pax Romana and used Quizziz to have an interactice discussion which I think she achieved.

However, she lack in deepening the knowledge of the students and in making sense of the lesson. She lack in academic discussion because it only focus on lower order thinking skills. The students do not have an opportunity to develop their critical thinking because there was no thinking time and the art of questioning is somehow missing.

I think PT Shannen is still used with teaching elementary students and forgot that JHS students already have insights and ideas with the lesson. She needs to ask and ask questions to get answers from the students. But, I trust my classmate that she will develop the appropriate strategies needed in teaching history as she teach each week and become immerse with the mind of a teacher.

I had my first demonstration teaching earlier with St. Gregory the Great. I started preparing for my presentation as early as I received the comments in my lesson plan but I still end up removing and adding some parts until last night. I was overthinking and overpreparing in my mind. I was freaking out as soon as I wake up. I was so nervous even I'm confident with my content knowledge.

Thankfully, my students were responsing well to my questions and they look like they're getting used to with how I teach. I was nervous at first because I wanted to give them a good impression and also to ensure that I teach well the topic. History can be hard to teach if we focus too much with the details and forget teaching the essence why they need to learn it. It is also important to incorporate values and social issues with our discussion. If we tend to focus more on the head knowledge then we will let the opportunity pass on spearing the heart.

I learned a lot from today's experience. I hope to be better next time.

Prof. Colis observed my class today. I was so nervous at first because of how strict she is with us. She expect so much from us because she also trust that we can do well. After settling the class and introducing the lesson, I felt ease with the familiarity of the setup.

St. Pius X was performing well during the class and they easily grasp concepts but I try to slow down the lesson for them to let them keep up. I also took time with the pagganyak part which made me rush the next parts of the lesson. I didn't finish all the parts but I finished the lesson and the paglalapat part.

Prof. Colis gave me her comments and suggestion. I listened very carefully to what I lack and how can I improve. After listening to her, I also realized what she told about how I teach. It's nervewracking to be criticized but at the same time it will help me improve.

We had a meeting with our CT earlier. We discussed some concerns and what will happen next to our next meetings. Mrs. Bendaña assigned our next task which is to draft a summative test about this week's topic. She said that this is her way of ensuring the students are catching up with the lesson.

Mrs. Bendaña was serious when we first met her but as we know more of each other we were happy to have her as a CT. She knows how to train us and to help us. I didn't expect her to be a great mentor even while pregnant because of her condition but the opposite happened. She already have that motherly affection and instinct that help us learn and explore our own teaching strategy.

She does not impose but let us strategize and to commit mistake in her presence so she can correct it instantly.

After a week of jumping from one grade to another, we decided to stay within our grade level so we can focus on their characteristics, profile, problems, and other challenges. We can use this as a start for our CBAR since we will be grouped according to our grade level.

I observed PT Rouie and PT Glaizza under Mr. Gonzales. We are in the same grade level but our lesson is not the same so it was nice to listen to their topic.

PT Glaizza looked nervous based on her movements. She keeps looking from left to right which is distracting to the viewer. It affected her performance in teaching. She lack the art of questioning and in processing the student's answer. It is very obvious that she master the content but she needs to simplify her explanation according to the student's level of understanding.

I liked how Rouie discussed the comparison and contrast of the different religion and philosophy. It made the lesson simple yet easy to understand. It also connected the concepts that seems vague and not connected. The students were more participative and they can answer the questions easily. However, he might have a good processing of the student's answer but he do not give praises or reinforcements.

It is the continuation of the topic Sigalot Etniko but now our context will be in West Asia.

I lectured to St. Gregory the Great today at 8 in the morning. As expected, the students have a low energy and were not performing well. This might be because it is their first class and the stress that the upcoming exam is giving them. I try not to push them hard to recite but at the same time I was eager to hear some opinions from them. As usual, my 2 most active students, Batiencila and Lopez, were participating.

Lopez was a shy student at first but he became active after some session. My CT was also shocked to hear him often. In one of our classes, he opened up that I triggered his curiosity to learn more about other countries and he has been dreaming of pursuing international relation studies in the future.

We discussed a lot of war and tension between countries today but what I impart to them the most that nobody will win with these fights because the citizens become vulnerable victims.

I had my "grand" demo consultation with my CT earlier this morning. I only finished my presentation 1-minute before I enter our Zoom meeting because of some personal reasons at home. I was busy with household chores yesterday because I am left with my two grandmother. All while balancing my time observing other grade level's classes.

My CT checked my lesson plan and my presentation. She also asked how I will deliver it and how will I transition the parts of my lesson plan. She also asked to remove some parts that sounded redundant and to be precise with my explanation. She also made the question and answer portion or the inquiry parts to be specific so the students can grasp the question clearly.

I learned a lot of points to improve from my caring and thoughtful CT. She taught me to relax and enjoy the beauty of teaching. I appreciated her efforts to help us bring the best out of us. Her comments are very helpful in understanding our strengths and weaknesses. As our mentor, she make us excited to improve and revise our works because of her encouraging and helpful words.

We started our consultation early in the morning because our CT wanted to have an update on our preparation for our "grand" demo. She wanted to iron the wrinkles before she file for maternity leave and pass us to our new CTs, Sir Jacob and Sir Leo.

Jun Jun was the first to present. He went through his presentation and explained how he will stitch the pieces together. I always commend his authority as a teacher because it is already evident. However, I think he forgot to implement our CBAR in his presentation. He still used content-based instruction with heavy texts in his PowerPoint presentation. Atleast, he still have time to reflect and revise hia works. He will meet our CT again on Monday.

As for me, I showed my updated presentation. I incorportated graphic organizers in the discussion and lessen activities that are time consuming. I simplified my presentation and tried to be less idealistic to have an attainable presentation. I noticed that using too much activities distract the students. I only used the balitaan activity in the pagganyak part. As a result, my CT approved it and I will ve seeing her on the "grand" demonstration day.

I tried to emphasize on my mind that I should not show too much activity because it will be a burden for both me and the students. I should bear in mind that I should present how I normally teach.

I had my grand demonstration teaching today and I nailed it! I was so nervous the past days but I overcame it by controlling my emotions and my thoughts. I wanted to do so much more! I wanted to include some activities for engagement and some details to the discussion, but I suppressed the idea of cramming my content because I already polished it. I always say to myself that what's important is for the class to grasp the essence and to enjoy the lesson. I don't want to hype them with motivational activities then bore them during the discussion part. My goal today is to teach them lesson clearly and concisely, not to impress the observers.

I used a variety of method in teaching today but mostly constructive method. I used picture analysis, map analysis, and concept map in presenting the discussion to the students. I used a familiar motivational activity for us not to spent irrelevant time in the review part and the technicalities of the activity. Thankfully, I finished the lesson up to homework.

I received a 98 grade from Prof. Colis! I was so shocked and overwhelmed after my demonstration, but I was happy and fulfilled with the fruit of my labor. I am also very thankful to the people around me that supported and helped me finish my demonstration teaching.
