The department of energy is responsible for making sure America has power. They make sure we have all the types of power such as Nuclear power, Fossil fuels, and alternative sources. Nuclear power is the energy released during nuclear fission or fusion, normally used to generate electricity. Fossil fuels is the process of getting energy from fossil from 100s of years ago. Alternative sources would be solar power and wind power.
Nuclear Power is  the release of  nuclear reactions that generate heat. Nuclear power is very harmful towards the environment; which is why the department of energy tries to limit the use. They try to use much more renewable energy. Nuclear power is very costly and dangerous. Just because it is invisible does not mean it is not harmful. It is harmful because it releases pollution into the air and into our atmosphere. 
Fossil Fuels is the use of using energy from the remains of living organisms. The department of energy tries to limit the use of this because it once it is all used up, we won't have anymore. Fossil fuels are much safer than Nuclear power, but still alternative sources are safest. Fossil Fuels take up to hundreds of years to form. 
                                                                                                                                                                           

Alternative sources is the use of using power that we can get again. Some of this would be wind power, water power, and more. This is the best power source, for many different reasons. The first reason Would be because we can get it for forever without running out. The second reason being its not harmful to the environment. The third reason would be its overall easier to do. 

So in conclusion The department of energy has three main jobs. The first job being that it has to make sure we don't use that many fossil fuels. The second job would be making sure we don't use that much nuclear power. The third job would be making sure we use more renewable sources. She inspired many people to change their ways of thinking based on her actions. One major action she had was refusing to give up her seat on a bus in Montgomery, AL. Back then, African Americans had to give up their seats for the white. This act inspired the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Later on from this unjustified arrest she ended up joining the NAACP with her husband to help African Americans in the segregated South. One thing that sparked her side of strong feeling for this topic might have been the K.K.K. She remembers as a child hearing the lynching going on in streets and being afraid the home would burn down.  
The K.K.K is a major problem in 1930+ , They were a organization that believed in white supremacy. The K.K.K claimed over 4 million lives, even though they were short lived. They were mainly a southern organization that rose up after World War One , to murder and terrify African Americans and anyone associated with them. 


A few quotes from Rosa Parks would be “I knew somebody had to take the first step, and I made up my mind not to move.” Another thing she accomplished were going to colleges for women when it was extremely hard because women were not valued for their smarts back then.
