         <description><![CDATA[<div>Photos on slide 4 reminds me of traditions like the tradition of giving oranges, wearing traditional costumes and the communal gatherings during the lunar new year.<br><br>As such my thoughts on Chinese music are that of ones that represent the oriental culture and I feel that Chinese music is music that brings people together, considering how communal the Chinese can be.  <br><br>Following oriental music that is commonly played during the lunar new year, I find my impression of Chinese music to include the pentatonic scale and have traditional chinese instruments like the er hu and guzheng. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Chinese music mostly uses the pentatonic scales for its melody but can sometimes have harmony moving outside of the diatonic harmony. Traditional Chinese music can easily be recognise by the timbre of the instruments. It is pretty different compared to modern Chinese music which uses a lot of western instruments but ideas of melody and harmony are pretty much still similar.</div>]]></description>

But from research , I think it could have something to do with erhu and pipa and of course some Chinese words.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Anything going back to the traditional root of chinese music to modern day mandopop. <br><br>Chinese orchestra music which consists of traditional chinese instruments such as the dizi, suona, pipa, guzheng, erhu, etc...<br><br>The use of the chinese pentatonic scale separates the eastern and the western music.<br><br>The scale lends to making simple harmonies, but perhaps to maintain the Confucian norms of simplicity and clarity, harmony isn’t emphasized. In contrast, Western-style music uses the heptatonic scale that lends to producing complex harmonies among various instruments in tension.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>
