Imagine eating breakfast, and immediately going to war. This means very little time with your family. Also, there is a big chance that you will get injured or even killed. Plus, holding all of your guns, running, trying to survive and make you tired.

If you were a American Soldier you could chose to fight for the land. if you were 16-60 years you could vote for people to go into the fight. The men that were chosen to fight you were four times a year for training usually on the local village green. If you went home if the British retreated you got to go home eat dinner, wake up and eat breakfast and say that you are going to your job as a fighter. If you were lucky you could survive without of getting hit with a bullet. On both sides were training to aim when firing their weapons the militiamen clearly aimed at individual targets, particularly British officers who were easy marks. Once the fight began, some of the militia companies broke ranks and took shots at the British anytime they could. Other militiamen rode their houses to a weak point along the British column, fired, and then rode on to find another good location.

Being an American Solider during the American Revolution was like being in a regular war. But it was different because you did not have bombs and matching uniforms. they only had muskets and horses. It was propably hard because they did not have swords. So it would be hard. When the war started in the middle of the night the soldiers had to get up early and get dressed. If they got injured the colonists would help the injured soldier. You had to be skilled to be a militias because a British soldier said that the mailitias knew what they were doing.

It was probably very normal to be chosen or volunteer to be a soldier in the war, the only requirement was to be in healthy condition or rather healthy enough to move around, hide, and shoot your musket at far enough range from the target. You also had to be male and between the age of 16-60. Also why i'm saying it was probably normal because you could just wake up in the morning eat breakfast and leave home into a war zone with a flintlock musket and the will to fight. Then after the enemies were either killed or they retreated you could go back to your home eat lunch or dinner and then go to bed and wake up the next day to do the same thing again. This also goes for both the colonist or the British soldiers, and if you were a colonist you were expected to you use your training that you did up to four half-days each week. You also usually had to leave the dead behind and focus on the people still standing or the injured.

The minutemen were young men in there 20's who could reading in about 1 minute. Also they were hand picked by their officers, their officers knew that they could perform well in special training. Minute men had past training. They were also at least a middle classmen. The other group were the militias men. In the 1600's, Massachusetts created the militias. Made up of men who were in the age group of 16-60. They were able to provide forces that were capable. Also were middle classmen.

To fight you had to be n good shape and be around the ages 16-60. You would have to fight against highly trained British soldiers. You would have to be ready on short notice and be willing to fight. You didn't have to commit to fighting but you be called a trader. These was high chances of injury and death so I think that is why some people didn't want to fight
