איך משתמשים בזה?

פעם היו כותבים בעיתונים:

“פיליטון שבועי”

כלומר: טור קליל, מצחיק או עוקצני.

זה נשמע מצחיק כי זה נשמע כמו משהו שקשור לפילים או סוג של מאכל

אבל בפועל זה פשוט טור ספרותי עם הומור.

בשנות ה־70 המילה “פיליטון” הייתה הרבה יותר נפוצה, במיוחד בהקשר של טורים הומוריסטיים בעיתונות.

The most mind-blowing concept for me is that we experience TIME differently, depending on the language we speak. whoa. wow. yesss.

Languages that have no tenses or no substance called "time" - eg. Hopi (fascinating!) strike me as somehow existing in a more 'peaceful' world. Could that be possible? If there is no substance or word called "time", nothing that can be cut or counted (as stated in the video), then daily life and expression would feel completely foreign - like living in a different world, one that has more simplicity. To think in such a language - would I be able to be more present?

Certainly, I wouldn't require help from the multi-billion dollar, explosive 'mindfulness' industry, borne from the Western world's utter obsession with 'getting things done' and "time management', 'efficiency' and "accomplishments'.

Mindfulness (confession --> I am a fan) has an effect of slowing down timem halting 'the rush' - so what if simply, linguistically, I didn't need to do that?

Fascinating....

In modern Israeli culture, being a frayer is heavily stigmatized. It is considered one of the worst labels to bear. 

• Definition: Someone who acts naively, follows all the rules, and allows others to take advantage of them without complaining.

• Usage: Israelis often do everything possible to avoid being a frayer (e.g., trying to get better deals, ensuring they aren't losing out).

• Context: It can be used in scenarios like waiting in line, signing a bad contract, or working harder than peers. 

2. Frayer in Russian (Фраер)

• Definition: Initially, it meant someone who was not a criminal ("not a thief").

• Connotation: While historically it meant a "civilian" or "easy mark," it has evolved to mean a dandy, a show-off, or simply a fool/sucker.

• Common Phrase: "Бог не фраер, он всё видит" (God is not a frayer, He sees everything)—implying that while people can be fooled, God cannot.

3. Frayer in English

• Direct Translation: Sucker, gullible person, patsy, mark, dupe.

Context: While not a native English word, it is used in Jewish English slang to describe a naive person in a competitive societ
