Good individual time management

During my previous voluntary and paid work I had good in person communication skills which allowed me to work well in a team.

During Semester one I developed my communication skills to work in a more collaborative way.

I was able to develop my communication skills in messages and emails.

I developed my Collaborative communication skills by creating reading tables for independent research. Before we met in person we would look at each others research notes and discuss what we had read and answer questions as well as discuss what this meant for the direction of the project.

In addition to further develop this skill one team member was quiet during group discussions. I began asking what she thought and if she had any questions to make her more included and gain her views. I hope that this helped to include her in the collaboration and develop her communication skills.

This allowed the project to progress as it meant that we could adjust the direction of the project based on what information was available as well as informing us of what areas we could research in our survey.

I developed my communication skills online by checking how messages read and changing terminology. I felt that this was important as over message there is no vocal tone so I did not want to cause any offence with a formal message. I also developed this skill with using Copilot AI to prompt different and kinder wording.

This enabled the project to progress as it meant that there was no conflict between any of us which allowed a collaborative team to evolve.

During Semester one there was individual time management but not a collective effort to set deadlines for work.

During Semester one we did not take note of important deadlines. We did not take note of the ethics application deadline. This meant that we had to write the application a few days before.

During Semester two due to the lack of in person contact myself and another teammate would create a document from the session detailing all we had discussed.

After we almost missed the deadline for the ethics application we began to use our Gantt chart. I would check this weekly to see what we needed to do for the week and any upcoming deadlines. After checking I would bring up any deadlines or work that needed to be completed by a certain date.

During Semester two the documents detailing what we had discussed would also include a to do list and we would allocate amongst who attended then would message and say that the others could pick from the remaining tasks on the document.

This enabled our project to progress as it meant that we all understood what needed to be completed or what our individual role would be that week.

During Semester two I took on more of a leadership role than in semester one. This is a new skill to me as I have never previously been a leader in a team.

I took the lead on developing the to do list and allocating work for the poster and E-portfolio. I created a document with a clear date for when we should have the work done, who was doing which sections as well as also discussing what we wanted included in each others sections.

I did this as for the poster some teammates were confused the day before the presentation as to what sections they were writing and what to include in this.

In addition to this prior to the group sessions I would message to ask who would be attending the in-person sessions. I did this as I felt it would apply slight pressure for those who had not been attending to do so.

This enabled our project to progress as it created clarity as to what individuals needed to do as well as we expected each others work to include.
