For those non-NBA fans out there, what is the play-in tournament? So this play-in thingy is where the 7-10 seeds of each conference face off in a one game elimination. 7th vs 8th and 9th vs 10th. Whoever wins 7th vs 8th gets to go into the playoffs. The winner of 9th vs 10th and the loser vs 7th and 8th play the game to see who gets the 8th seed.

 Most NBA players don't really like the play-in since it ruins the whole point of getting the 7th or 8th seed anyways. The Lakers vs Warriors play-in game will be an intense and very popular game to watch. But don't worry, whoever loses still has a chance to play against the winner of the 9th and 10th seed.

In the 1st inning, The lead-off hitters got the game started, with Everett Jou, number 10, hitting a foul ball over the home-run fence. He ended the at-bat with a single off the pitcher's ankle. The Angels scored five runs, activating the run-rule, which states that all innings except the last inning have a limit of 5 runs per team.
In the bottom of the 1st, the inning was an 1-2-3 inning, with Everett pitching. The first two batters were struck out, and the last one was thrown out in a stunning play at first, committed by Adam, playing at shortstop.
In the second inning, the Angels managed to score another run-rule inning, with 5 runs again.
In the bottom of the second, however, the Giants managed to squeak 4 runs off of the Angels' pitcher Brandon. Then, in the Top of the 3rd inning, it was the Angels' turn to bat again. They scored 3 runs, but in the bottom of the 3rd, the Giants scored a run-rule inning, with 5 runs off of Alonzo. 
When the Angels' turn rolled around again, in the top of the 4th, they scored their third run-rule of the game, making the score 18-9, Angels. Then, when the Angels' pitcher Theo got tired, their closer Ansel, number 2, got the save. Today, the Golden State Warriors (8th in the Western Conference), and the Memphis Grizzlies (9th in the Western Conference) will face off today in a matchup for the final seed of the NBA playoffs. This will be a rematch of the last game of the season, as the Grizzlies and Warriors fought to the end in a spectacular 113-101 finish, Warriors on top. 

     In this last game of the State Farm Play In Tournament, the Warriors and Grizzlies will fight a grueling one. Both teams are hungry for the last spot in the NBA playoffs. The winner of this game will get the 8th seed in the Western Conference, and will then play against the Utah Jazz (No.1 Seed in the Western Conference) in the first round of the playoffs. After the Grizzlies narrowly beat the San Antonio Spurs in the first Play-In Tournament game (100-96), and the Golden State Warriors narrowly losing the Los Angeles Lakers 100-103, the Warriors and Grizzlies will fight to the final second. 

     Justin Jung of Rm.33 said that this game will be intense, full of excitement, and will go down to the wire. Justin Jung, a Golden State Warriors fan, hopes that Stephen Curry will erupt for big points, and haul the Warriors in for the win. Timothy Chan of Rm.33 just hopes that the Warriors will beat the Grizzlies because nothing but the last playoff spot at stake. Lachlan of Rm.33 says that the Warriors game against the Grizzlies  previously was won only because Dillon Brooks fouled out of the game with 6 minutes left in the 4th quarter. Many people can relate to this, as Dillon Brooks had been pushing back against the Warriors in the 4th until he fouled out, and the Warriors then managed to hang on for the win. 

This game will be extremely intense, full of excitement, and extremely suspenseful. This game will bring lots of fun, and the loser may be extremely sad/frustrated. The Memphis Grizzlies and the Golden State warriors played each other before, on Sunday, May 16. The Golden State Warriors beat the Memphis Grizzlies 113 - 101. Honestly, one of the reasons that the Grizzlies lost was because Dillon Brooks was fouled out. 

The Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs, Memphis Spurs and LA Lakers were in the Play in, until the Golden State Warriors beat the Memphis Grizzlies 113-101, the Memphis Grizzlies beat the San Antonio Spurs 100-106, and the Lakers beat the Warriors 103-100. Here is the current NBA western conference standings in order from 1st to 15th.  Utah Jazz, Phoenix Suns,  Denver Nuggets, LA Clippers, Dallas Mavericks, Portland Trailblazers (LETS GO), LA Lakers, Golden State Warriors, Memphis Grizzlies, San Antonio Spurs, New Orlean Pelicans, Sacramento Kings, Minnesota Timberwolves, Oklahoma Thunder and Houston Rockets. This is only the western conference, as there is also a eastern conference (which I will not be talking about). Right now, there is a big chance for the Brooklyn Nets (2nd in the Eastern conference) to win the NBA 2021 championship.

If the Warriors lose todays game against the Grizzlies, then they will be 9th place and be out of the playoffs (The Grizzlies will be 8th place and be in the play offs (8th to 1st place are in the play offs) to play against the Utah Jazz).   A lot of people favor and want the Warriors too win, but beware, cuz although the Memphis Grizzlies are a pretty young team with Ja Morant, Dillon Brooks, Jaren Jackson Jr. and others, they can still be a very good offensive and defensive team, as one of their best player (Jonas Valančiūnas) is doing pretty well, scoring 29 points against the warriors last Sunday (May 16th). Jonas Valančiūnas in 2021 is averaging 17.1 ppg (points per game) and even though that is not necessarily a lot, that is a lot for someone who is not a super star like Stephen Curry, Damian Lillard, Giannis Antetokounmpo and others. Ja Morant is doing pretty well to! Ja Morant is averaging 19.1 points per game, impressive for a rookie, and is also averaging 7.4 assists per game. How ever, his 3 point percentage is going down.

Final news, basketball has been cancelled by Mr. Smedile and Mrs. Yang, the reason is still unknown. This has saddened many people, like myself. This also probably means we cannot play basketball for the rest of the year, since we have the wall ball courts and the playgrounds + grass field for the rest of the school year.

Today is June 3, 2021. We have cheese breadsticks for hot lunch! Yesterday was a particular day: June 2nd was the day the Salem Witch Trials began. We are getting closer and closer to the last day of school by the minute; Room 34 has bags for students that (I assume) will be passed out later today.

Miller Middle School will be amazing, however, I'd like to talk about how some students might take advantage of their freedom and control of money once they get into middle school.

For starters, they would waste a lot of money. Without supervision, children would be more and more tempted into buying the sweets they like. Not only will this affect their health, but parents will find a lot of money lost.

After a year or two, daring children would sneak out and buy drugs and more, such as nitrous oxide. You may think this is unlikely, but the average age of first use is 13-15. Though it would be less common in middle school, if children get exposed to this type of behavior at this age, they might be influenced to do it in high school.

Another substance young teenagers might encounter is alcohol. Research shows people who drink before the age of 15 are four times more likely to be an addict later on in their life. Alcohol abuse in children is becoming dangerously common.

  • 10.1% had their first alcoholic drink at 11 years old or younger
  • 37.5% had their first alcoholic drink between 12–17 years old
  • 39.7% had their first alcoholic drink between 18–25 years old
  • 12.6% had their first alcoholic drink at 26 years old or older

    This is not the only risk. Sneaking out of school could get you kidnapped. Human trafficking exists all around the world.

    We hope more children would be safer from these dangers.

The Suns jumped out to a nearly 30 point lead early in the first half. Devin and Tristan are very disappointed by this, as they are Lakers fans. But the Suns didn't exactly beat the Lakers in their full power. AD (Anthony Davis) was injured, and was pulled from the game early in the first quarter. It was a tough going for the Lakers from the beginning onward, and in the end, the Lakers were knocked off by the Suns, and the Suns move on to face the Denver Nuggets, with reigning MVP champ candidate NIKOLA JOKIC (LACHLAN DISAGREES WITH JOKIC BEING MVP COMPLETELY). Devin Booker looked as if he had Booked a room in the second round of the playoffs before the game, as he erupted for 47 points in the game as they knocked off the Lakers. He went 6-6 for three in the FIRST QUARTER ALONE! That is just crazy. During the game, Devin Booker also even caught the eye of other NBA stars and NFL STARS as they were tweeting about him being on fire as he just went crazy during the game. As the students become more excited to get to a new school, many students are struggling to accept the fact they're leaving the school they've been to for 6 years. 

Middle School will be a new start for all of us. Some students may part ways, but hopefully, they'll be remembered by their peers when they do.
