         <title>SUMMARY ON NUCLEAR
ACCIDENTS

Nuclear accident is a failure of a reactor of a nuclear
power plant. Desspite the known nuclear accidents have occurred at nuclear
power plants they also occur in other places where nuclear energy is used to
work. For example placester &amp;nbsp;such as
hospitals, research laboratories. To determine the severity of an accident, an
Internanational Nuclear Event Scale has been established.

Because of earthquake and tsunami, in sveral towns, like
Sendai, Kesennuma, Kuji, Yamadamachi, and Rikuzentakata there was a major infrastructure
failure from transportation to power distribution. Due to lack of there was a
failure in cooling down the nuclear plants. Nuclear stations adopted the shut
down operation which includes insertion of rods and stopping the nuclear reaction.
But cores continued to produce high levels of heat in reactor. In feukushima 1
which is most significant accident site , the reactors were failed to get cool
down. Even after trying all possible efforts the pressure and temperature
continued to rise. So government made it mandatory to evacuate due to these
nuclear accidents. Because that&amp;nbsp; of &amp;nbsp;failure there was an explosion &amp;nbsp;in Feukushima-1. But radiation was gradually
decreasing due to the sea water cooling effect.</title>
