Korea was colonized by Japan, they had to have their Korean names changed to Japanese names, Korean woman were sex slaves, and Korean men were turned into workers. Japanese culture was forced onto Koreans.

Imperialist Japan met its end when it agreed to the unconditional terms of the Potsdam Agreement. The Soviet Union occupied North Korea and the US took South Korea. By 1950, Kim Il-Sung had a vision to expand his communist ideas to the Southern part as well as strategically prepare for war with Japan. However, to resist communist aggression, Douglas McArthur makes a daring rescue mission at the city of Inchon. A city that lies within the enemy territory and pushed them back until the Chinese entered.

I do not know much about Korean culture but I do know a good amount of Korean history. Japan annexed Korea a little before WW1 and wasn't exactly treating them well. After loosing WW2, Japan lost control of Korea it wasn't long until Korea broke out into civil war with the Communist North backed by the USSR and China and the democratic South backed by mainly America but most of the U.N. It ended with two Koreas. North korea got nukes and spent their whole lives starving their people and threatening the world with nukes while South Korea is one of the world's top economies.
