         <description><![CDATA[<div>This is how the diet works:<br>- You eat 4 small meals a day, in which you can <br>- Don't eat sugar or carbs, but have high protein, fat, and cholesterol<br>- Diet for 12 days, stop for 2 days, and repeat this<br>- 8 glasses of water a day<br>- You cannot have alcohol, caffeine, foods high in sugar or starch, desserts, white vegetables, or foods high in carbohydrates.<br><br>Sample:<strong><br>Breakfast:</strong> Eggs, two slices of bacon, half grapefruit, or sugarless grapefruit juice<br><strong>Lunch:</strong> Meat, mixed salad, half grapefruit, or sugarless grapefruit juice<br><strong>Dinner:</strong> Fish, meat, green or red vegetables, half grapefruit, or sugarless grapefruit juice<br><strong>Snacks:</strong> One glass of skimmed milk or tomato juice in your after dinner snacks.          <description><![CDATA[<div>First, let's see if the benefits are really true. Does grapefruit affect insulin levels?<br>A: "Harvard Medical School states that grapefruit has a <a href="http://www.health.harvard.edu/healthy-eating/glycemic_index_and_glycemic_load_for_100_foods">glycemic index of 25</a>, suggesting that it does not significantly affect blood sugar and <a href="http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/info/diabetes/whatisinsulin.php">insulin</a> levels." (Ware) <br><br><strong>So, grapefruit may not be the miracle food as described by fad diets, however it does have many advantages, such as:</strong><br>- Risk of diseases/unhealthy conditions such as obesity, diabetes, and heat disease are decreased.&nbsp;<br>- Could give a healthy complexion<br>- Increases your energy<br>- Overall (slightly) lower weight (As proven by the Scripps Clinic 'Grapefruit Diet' study, led by Dr. Ken Fujioka, which monitored 91 obese men and women's weight and metabolic factors for 12 weeks.)&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Now to answer the question, "Is this diet good for you?"<br>Of course, there are healthy aspects to this diet, such as a low intake of sugar, and grapefruit is a very healthy food (unless, due to the high levels of Vitamin C interfering with certain medications, you can't have too much of it). However, there are many flaws to this diet that should be brought to your attention. First, it highlights a need for fat and cholesterol, which are actually not healthy for you if you have too much. The Canadian food guide tells you to avoid foods high in fat, but that is a main component of this diet. <br><br><strong>"Include a small amount – 30 to 45 mL (2 to 3 Tbsp) – of unsaturated fat each day."&nbsp;</strong>(The Canadian Food Guide)<br><br>Second, you are not getting all the necessary food groups. This diet includes little to no carbs and calories, and in the sample there aren't even any grain products. You aren't getting all the energy you need from this diet (especially as a teenager) and this could interfere with how well you are doing in physical activity. The food guide recommends 6-7 servings every day! (for teens)<br><br>In conclusion, this diet is not healthy for teenagers. It is a quick method of temporary weight loss that doesn't include all of the recommended health components for a day. Grapefruit may be a healthy food, and may even help with losing weight, but only as part of a varied and healthy diet.</div>]]></description>
