2.<<1. After watching the two videos posted in this padlet and reviewing the poetry terms given to you in class pick a favorite song.(Note* we will do one song in class together as an example)
2. Take your chosen song and analyze the lyrics to at least 3 stanzas. look for examples of our poetry terms and point that out by highlighting examples and labeling them. Look for the rhyming scheme and note the rhyme scheme at the end of each line. Lastly, write a paragraph discussing what you think the poet's/musician's message is about, what are they trying to say. What does this song mean to you?
3. Turn your song lyrics in when completed. In class we will play a few and discuss some aspects of poetry in each as we listen.

Now, write a poem of your own. Write a poem about something that you care about. Include examples of rhyming, similes, metaphors, imagery, and more. The more examples of figurative language terms from our essential terms list the better the grade. Point out each and write the term beside the example in your poem. This will be a work in progress.

You will be given a worksheet in class for analysis of each poem. On your worksheet fill in each each column on various aspects on the poems read. We will discuss and work on this in class together.
