Album Review

When thinking about an album that I wanted to review for this specific assignment I instantly thought of Kesha’s new album called Rainbow. This record marked a pivotal moment in Kesha’s career in fact. Since her recent drama with her old record label Sony, this is her first album released in 5 years. I chose to do this album because of the message behind her album. To me this album is all about coming back and moving on without a hateful message to the person who has done you wrong. This album really redefined how Kesha was viewed as a pubic figure and really helped me understand her on a more personal level.

In my Album Review I touched on Kesah's Album Warrior that wasn't as widely successful as her other albums
Warrior made me feeling a lot of different things. I wasn’t too big of a fan of a lot of the songs like her actual song Warrior, Dirty Lover, and Wonderland. This album to me didn’t make much sense. Feelings and messages she conveyed in her different pieces we kind of all over the place. It made it hard to follow her feelings and it made forming a more negative feeling about this album a lot easier.

Life Changing Song!!!

Praying in my opinion perfectly described how she has matured as an artist since Warrior. When thinking about what Ratliff principle would apply to this I think of Quietness. This element represents letting go and in many ways this song represents Kesha letting go of the negativity that lead her to the dark place she was before working on Rainbow. It is so easy to see how raw she is feeling while still trying to stay true to her roots as seen in the video with her controlled craziness.

Another Ratliff Principle.

I also want to apply the element of slowness from Ratliff. In reviewing this Album I find that it is super easy to take time to reflect on how far Kesha has come. The whole idea of slowness is to take time to value the piece and its super easy to do that in this Album.

This song from her Album Rainbow lets you observe how slowness in a piece can allow you grow a new perspective. Also it helps you have an understanding on how this reformed Kesha sees the world around her. Rainbow wasn't one of the singles that was released but I think it is a very important song to the Album.

this a line in one of her songs that I LOVE. What stands out to me the most about this Album is how tasteful it is. She could’ve been pissed and mad some supper upbeat angry songs about her come back but instead she made it soft and subtle, which is something I really appreciate.
