Dans la continuité d’une programmation, en accord avec une thématique qui met en lumière notre patrimoine culturel, renforcée par la nécessité de consolider les bases de la transmission,
le comité d’ organisation du festival Terre de Blues de Marie-Galante, a choisi de célébrer la matrice ou le centre, le pilier, le soutien de notre société antillaise: la femme.
« Fanm Doubout » souvent décrite comme « Fanm potomitan » au centre de la vie familiale, c’est elle qui éduque, qui prend les décisions, qui assument la plupart des responsabilités.
Forte de pouvoirs au sein de la famille caribéenne, elle est aussi victime d’inégalités sociales qui règnent encore dans la société actuelle.
La 19ème édition du festival Terre de Blues rend un hommage appuyé à toutes les « Fanm Doubout» ; ces femmes de caractère, femmes de légende, femmes militantes, femmes du quotidien…
Une édition ayant pour marraine, une femme de culture, une femme écrivaine, une femme professeure, une femme chanteuse, native de Marie-Galante : Marie-Héléna LAUMUNO.

Mais c’est par la danse qu’elle intègre le milieu du gwoka. Les chansons traditionnelles et contemporaines font partie des spectacles qui se donnent dans la commune. Alors, au fil des années, au gré des rencontres, elle adopte le chant et la danse gwoka . La formation se poursuit par des cours de musique pour l’apprentissage du tanbou-ka et du solfège.
Et puisqu’en Guadeloupe, le gwoka se vit au quotidien, alors, tout en s'épanouissant dans la danse et dans la chanson en particulier, Marie-Héléna décide de faire du gwoka, dans sa dimension sociale et politique, son objet de recherche.
