To me, this quote means that it's not about being recognized for your acts of kindness, it's about people changing the world by having integrity, one simple thing after another.

Michelle Obama states "that the truth matters..." . I completely agree. Lying is like a spider spinning a web. If you keep doing it over and over and over and over and over and over and over again, then soon you'll be tangled in your web of lies. The truth will set things straight almost always - and you don't have to live with the burning guilt of living a lie.

She also states "that you don't take shortcuts or play by your own set of rules...". So true! If everyone played by their own set of rules, the world would be a snarling mess, with people trampling on top of one another's feelings. There are pre-set rules for everyone, and I don't need to tell you what they are. You know them, I know them, heck, even the former First Lady of the United freaking States knows them!

Lastly, Obama feels that "success doesn't count unless you earn it fair and square". This idea is, to me, the most important idea conveyed in this quote. The idea that success isn't real unless you work for it is excellent. For example, what if you were the most famous soccer player in the world - all because you drank a magic potion or whatever? Compare that to working really, really, really hard and practicing for hours on end, and then finally achieving your goal, wouldn't that feel a million times better than if you just randomly were the best? Yeah, you're right. It would.

To me, this quote defines my life and what I hope to do in the world. I want to succeed, but only if I have legitimately earned that success. I hope you do too.

This quote reminds me of my family. In my family it runs like my parents both agree an mostly anything and punish us gravely when we lie about very little things. They always tell my siblings and I that if we do something wrong and someone says who did iit, you say that you did it, but only if it was you. They also tell me that the only way to do something and acculy get credit for it by yourself and other people is if you do it fare and square.
