Unwinding is the process of harvesting a child's body parts to be transplanted to different recipients. The children have no choice in the matter which means that the action was premeditated and chosen by another person (their parents): "From the moment his parents signed those papers, Connor was alone" (Shusterman 10). Connor's parents made the decision for him to be unwound without his knowledge or approval, which proves that unwinding is a form of murder.
