Another vulnerability is Social Media, sop much personal information can be obtained from one singular instagram page or one face book account. Lastly, and in my opinion the easiest to avoid, are those extremely fake "you're a lucky winner" adds that pop up when im shopping for shoes, nobodys giving away free cars online...

A lot of identity thieves get your information online on unsecure websites or just find your personal information on the internet and they target you for credit card numbers and for any money they can get their hands on.

Make sure you collect your mail every single day. If you do all these things with the combination of simple things like a complex password you should be safe from identity theft.
