What I loved about this ceramics class is that for most of the days when we are working on a project we can just come in and start working.

As my first project in ceramics I learned clay is kinda easy to put together but if not done correctly it can very easily fall apart on you.

Advice to future classes

My advice to the future classes are that it is alright to have to restart a project from scratch. It is better to have to come in during your lunch or a free period than to not linking what you spent a lot of time making in class.

Pinch Pots

When I started making this project I was really craving chips with salsa. I chose this design because I was thinking how I could have my salsa and chips both in the same plate but not have them touching. I think this is the first project I ever glazed and I learned how to properly glaze and to be generous with the amount of glazing I put on my brush.

First animal sketch

When making the design for this animal I did not add a lot of different designs on it. While making it with clay I did put a hat on it but I also made wings for it. I had quite a bit of clay left over so I decided to make a kind of floor for it. I also decided on making to floor for it because it was not standing by itslef.

Ancient Vessel (Cereal Bowl)

I was inspired by the Aztec pottery I found online. The pot design I chose was made for prayers to the respective gods they worshiped. I chose this colored glaze because while looking at the Aztec pottery you can see that they usually have bright and vibrant colors.

Monster - Greenware

When making my monster I realized that it was too heavy for it to be standing by regular sized feet. So I decided to not add legs to it at all. The eyes was probably the hardest thing to make because if I cut too deep then it would not look like I imagined it. I learned with this project that I can add spaces for air to enter the project in places where it looks like their should be a open space (The mouth) or you can add space when the eye can't see unless you are looking for it. In this case it's under the arm that is down.

Monster brainstorming

While on the planing stages of my monster project it took me a long time to think of different body parts of the monster. At the end I didn't really use many of the parts in it but it still turned out like I wanted it to.

I chose to use the horse hair and feathers for the glazing. What I learned was that you don't need a lot of the horse hair or feathers because if you use a lot then it will look burnt. (kinda looks like a burnt chicken Nugget)
