1) Stop using one’s skin color (light vs. dark) as a way to justify being cruel to another race. Educate others on the history of Blacks & Asians to prevent past mistakes from reoccurring. Listen to others when they share out their experiences.
2) Yes, they should learn to work together. Black individuals may physically look different from Asians but we still go through the same struggles. We both want the same outcome as well. It’s better to work together as a team than alone. “We need accountability. We need justice.”
3) I agree with everything that was said in both videos. One quote that stuck out to me was “speaking up and coming out is the first step towards equality.” This quote resonated with me because silent mouths don’t get fed. Everyone wants change but nobody is willing is step up and advocate for it.
4) During the 1990s, the # of Asian Americans in prison was twice as large as the # of whites.

1. "Ignorance crumbles a civilization." If people can come together and use some commons sense to know that Asian Americans are not in china, A lot will be solved. This Hate crime victims were most likely were not in Wuhan china when the whole pandemic started. people should understand that this Asians that are being attacked weren't the cause of the whole things.
People with Genuine knowledge of the origin of the pandemic will understand that attacking a whole race isn't going to bring back the dead or stop the spread, rather it only makes things worse .
2. Yes, they should work together because the only way things can be resolved is if everyone is ready to have empathy and come together. Racism stems from the fact that people think they are so different and that isn't really true.
Although we are of two different races with two different history, we are all humans all trying to be our best.
3. Really agree with the part that said we need to stop fighting amongst minority races and start fighting whiteness and white supremacy because that is the issue.
4."The whole model minority thing is also a form of divide and conquer" Minority groups fighting distracts them from the oppressor.

Asians, I discovered, was subjected to the same discrimination as black people. We need too start educating people on the different discrimination for people.

1. Both communities can come together through an agreement. Both groups are minorities it is time that they see that they have a lot more in common than they think.
2. Black and Asian communities should learn to work together. This is because they can be a true asset to one another. Closed mouths don't get feed and bot communities are limited to speak up how they may want but they are stronger and better together. With both communities intolerance of racism they could do some good work together.
3. My thoughts are that things can change. I believe that there is room for change and that change is possible. What made me feel this way was the quote, " speaking up and coming out is the first step towards equality." I happen to agree with this, speaking up and or standing up is the first step.
4. A key takeaway is that every community has their faults is what you decide to do with them and how you are viewed in this judgemental world. With time things'll get better.

1. Both communities can come together in solidarity by speaking up and speaking out in situations that affect them. This racism has gotten to a point that all marginalized communities should focus on coming together to change this society.
2. I do agree that the Black community and the Asian communities should come together to combat racism because even though our experiences with racism in America differ (most would argue that Blacks had it worse), we have both had that experience and that feeling of being judged based on nothing but the color of your skin
3.My thoughts are that the America is one of the most diverse nations but they are not one of the most united which is ironic considering the fact that they are called the United States. I think that we have to, no matter how long it takes, make sure that "everybody knows everybody fits in the rainbow somewhere".
4. I learned that Blacks hated Asians at some point after the 1991 killing of Latasha Harlins by a Korean store owner who shot her because she thought that she was stealing some orange juice.

1. Both communities can come together in solidarity if they recognize that they are both minority groups facing discrimination by the superior counterparts. Even though Black and Asians are culturally different, it is important for them to understand that the color of their skin and their culture is not a key difference that separates them. In the real world whether black or Asian, you can still be a victim of racism and discrimination. Therefore if both communities look at themselves as two minority groups who lack basic humans rights, they can definitely come together in solidarity.
2. Black & Asian communities should learn to work together to combat racism because they have done it in the past. The video highlights that as early as the 16s and 17s black and Asian communities came together to get voting and immigration rights. Currently both communities are experiencing the same oppression they did years ago, so they should come together again because united they will be stronger.
3. Part 5 & 6 demonstrates that there is conflict between the Black and Asian communities, even though both are prone to hate crime activities. In the past and referring to a most reason incident the George Floyd murder Asians have a history of involvement in black hate crimes. The black community cannot understand how the Asian community wants to join. In solidarity but are continuously involved in black hate crimes some way or the other.
4. The key takeaway is that Asians have to make the effort to show the love they want from the Black community, visa versa. The two communities can join together to fight for justice if they put their difference aside and focus on the problems they face.

I do think that both black and Asian communities should come together in order to combat racism.though they each might have different experiences when it comes to dealing with racism or how they handle it , in the end they each deal with some kind of oppression. instead of continuing the separation of the two groups they should come together to make some kind of change.
3.i agree with the things said in the video
4.one thing I learned was that in order to have some kind of real change people need to come together instead of trying to handle things on their own.

1.Both asian & black communities can come together & realize that somehow they have their similarities to the point that they were excluded somehow from society because of their race.
2. Even though the situations are different when it comes to Black & Asian culture, I think both races should work together because they face similar discrimination such as not having voting rights.
3.At the beginning of part 6, Stewart Loo stated, ¨I have friends, families who are legitimately afraid to go outside because of their safety¨ This is a very important point because a country should not make their citizens afraid to be part of the world & I think it is very important to consider officers & make sure they are ¨community-oriented¨ & making sure that they understand the ¨concept of community-policing¨
4. ¨During the 1990s, prisoner population grew by 250%¨ This quote is important because we see how policing, in a way, is not really prepare to do their job but to hate on Black & Asian communities. You would actually expect more white individuals to be arrested because their population is bigger than that of Asians & black people, but it is actually the opposite.

1. The Black and Asian communities need to unite because they are both oppressed groups and though their experiences are different, they all stem from the same source: racism.
2. Historically, both groups have worked against each other when they should've been working together and uniting against the dominant race. If both groups unite and support each other, the bridge of racial inequality can start closing.
3. I agree with everything that was said in both videos. A quote that really resonated with me was "speaking up and speaking out is the first step towards equality". This quote reminds me of the saying "closed mouths don't get fed" which (in the context of the previous quote) means that if Black and Asian people don't speak outwardly about their oppression, nothing will change.
4. My takeaway from these videos is that black and Asian people have similar experiences and that throwing more money at police departments will do more harm than good. Rather than financing the police departments, "we need accountability, we need justice"

I think because we live in a society we do we all need to stay together and beat oppression .

1.Firstly The Asian and Black community both have experienced violent oppression simply due to racism. In which instead of contrasting tragedies the 2 communities should unite by realizing how similar they are because of their racial injustices.
2.Unification will help combat racism if both minority groups come together. The power in numbers is stronger because not only is it diverse, but due to their unity they're more of a threat as both minority groups can build an even better community full of resources.
3. I agree with both videos and a quote that resonates with me is "speaking up and speaking out is the first step towards equality" because it's the same principle as not being a bystander. I've made contact with various groups of people but i've never been in their shoes just like how they have never been in mind so these videos also brought awareness to many of us.
4.Final thoughts; I think the way we want to be treated is how we treat each other. Previously I said we do not compare and contrast tragedy. I think by educating one another we find common ground and it's easier to unite.

1) I believe that Asians and Blacks should stop using skin color and the difference in physical feature to insult or go against one another. I feel as though even as an African American I was never educated on Asian culture. For both ethnicities to understand one another there needs to be an understanding on the different cultures. Asians go through hate and discrimination just like Blacks do. For both communities to come together, education needs to come into play for both sides.
2). I believe that Asians and Blacks should learn to come together to combat racism because both races go through discrimination. Both sides undergo social and physical discrimination. Just like African Americans are looked at differently and judged for the features we are born with. I believe that Asians are too made fun of and discriminated for their natural born features as well. Coming together would spread the undergoing social problems as bring awareness.
3) A quote that resonated with me was the phrase, “speaking up and coming out is the first steps towards equality”. This quote stands so strongly for how if you want change you have to make the step forward. If we truly want Asian hate to end we have to as our part of being a part of the black community is to stop socially profiling Asians. This videos made me view Asians differently. I never was in real contact with an Asian to personally know how they feel. But this video made me understand the struggles they go through much better.
4) My final takeaway is that both communities need to take a strong look on the way we view one another. If we change the way we view each other and come together that would decrease the hate crime

Black and Asian communities should come together to combat racism because the fight between them or the division between them is not leading both communities anywhere. While they both face very different form of racism, together racism and discrimination as a whole is still a problem that needs to be resolved as soon as possible.
3) After watching part 5 and 6 of the video, I felt educated and a little disappointed in myself because I had no clue about the histories behind the Asian and black communities. At the point I understood the rage the black community had towards Asians at that point.
4) one fact I learned after watching part 5 and 6 of the video would be the simple fact that there’s still room for work in our own communities and that if we can’t start locally with the issue concerning systemic racism then both communities might never get to where they want to be.

1.) Both asina and black communities can start coming together by first eliminating the ground barrier of the conception of each race to the other and depacting the ignornance and misconceptions that have sprouted from the two races over the past decades. During the split between the asian and black communities in the early days of civil rights, both of the races have lost touch of emathy and the common social barrier that they both face and because of this caused the seperaion of the two.
2.) I do agree that asians and blacks should work togther to combat racism being that they both share the same source of sytematic oppresion. Despies blacks and asians differnetbackground ameirca has manged to brin blacks and asians together on trauma that was created bought by the white colonizer. Because of the white colozier it has caused asina and blacks to dvelop interal hate amongsts themsleves as well as the social misconceptions percieved bwteen the two of them to the world. Being that asians and blacks both share the same source of where their trauma and oppresion comes from i would make sense to come together because they are both fighting for the same end goal.
3.) My thoughts after wathcing part 5 and art 6 of the video is that i titally agree and stood by everyhting that was said in the video. One of the main points that I resonated with was that the change starts from oursleves and in our local communities talking about racism and the oppresion that we face. Many people today are instilled with ignorance and confusion about the issies of balcks and asians and some mind shave even became a product of the hate that has been formed by our comminities. To sort of dismantle these iseas and behaviors cominciation needs to start happening in order to change the entire syetmetic system as a whole
4.) one fact that I have learned fromt hsi video takeaway is that 57 percent of Asians were in support of Bisen during the 2021 election having when you look at the differnet age grouups older generations asians leaned more conservative. Thsi takeaway is that we are not having the talks that we need to have with our ow family in order to try to see their presespective and to stop the ongoing issues.

It’s not just Asian and black communities that can come together it’s all minorities because even though we are different we are still minorities which is a threat to white culture of power . Even though Asian hate and black live mater movement are different situations they are still the same the same reason behind which is called racism however this shouldn’t overshadow the BLM movement and that’s what I think is African Americans are afraid of because we been dealing with the oppression since the dawn of day but instead of not helping with the Asia movement or feeling that is not important we still should come together because we are minorities at the end of the day

1. Both communities can come together by placing themselves in each others shoes. It is easy for a black person to say that no other race has gone through what they went through but they aren't considering that they are not the only race that is being oppressed. Being understanding and compassionate of the other race's problems can make it 10x easier to relate to what both races endure.
2. Black people and asians should CONTINUE to help combat racism together. I don't only think that black people and asians should fight together but all oppressed races should fight together. Regardless of what each race went through, America has had no issue looking at us like we are all the same.
3. After the video, i have more clarity and a semi-reality check on the issues going on around me. I was not completely unaware of the current uproar of asian hate but I do tend to forget that not only my dark skin is hated. After this video I am able to be more mindful and socially aware.
4. One fact I learned was that during the civil rights movement, asian americans were positively influenced and actively marching alongside black people. When these stories were first told to me, Asian americans didn't get much recognition so that was an fact that was easily forgotten.

We can come together in solidarity by acknowledging both communities struggles. Once we acknowledge it we can agree with each other and be angry together. Having that anger together will allow both communities to speak out against the oppression we both face in America.
Black and Asians should fight racism together because we have more in common than we think. It's almost as if we are family. I also feel like things get done better in numbers.
After watching the videos I realized that there are similar problems in the asian community that are in the black community. I don't have a direct quote but, the part about the colorism in both communities.
My final take away is that we have to work together in order to get what we want.

both communities can come together by protesting together against racism towards both these communities. i believe protests are a major factor in contributing to stopping racism. i feel like that if both communities are fighting against each other then it gives the oppressors a chance to keep acting the way they have for a long time. the black and asian community should come together to fight racism because it will show to the racist community they are not playing. they are having the same issue so why not fight it together. based on the video both communities were fighting racism together back in the 70s and i feel like they are now falling apart because some asians have hate towards blacks. one fact from the video is that in 1978 jesse owens fought to get a chinese woman out of a detention camp in china.

There's nothing more dangerous in this world than ignorance. The fact that this is our reality is truly disgusting and disturbing. Racism is taught, we need parents to teach their children the beauty of all colors and cultures.

Nothing can be solved without swift and thorough action we need people who are strong enough to do things that others are scared to do. At this point I don’t believe this country will ever be able to synchronize when it comes to race and that’s okay but personally I won’t live my life watching my back from a cop or a racist person, I feel like even thought drastic measures turn out bad for people that have my skin color it still leaves a mark. For example Martin Luther king made a mark for using non violent methods to fight oppression he is idolized by the country. Malcolm X is an underrated activist that used brute force often to get a point across and when he is brought up in conversations there is always a debate.

I agree that both sides are facing oppression of all kinds, but I do not think it is right to compare those two ethnicities struggles. Yes Asian people do face discrimination of all kinds but African Americans have been facing it at the same time and it impacted them differently. I believe that one cannot judge the way another walks if he/she has not worn their shoes. In conclusion, I believe Asians and African Americans should come together to fight against the oppression they face on the daily in order to see quicker results.
