I had not put much thought into 'school district boarders' before this article. The thought and effort put in in some of these communities is outstanding. Merging backgrounds is such a positive rather than something to avoid. Giving with your tax dollars should be bennefiting your community. Maybe not your immediate neighbor but your community as a whole. This includes kids you may not know. There was a story where I grew up of a family that was appauled when signing HOA paperwork that meantioned race and sounded as it was nicely segregating the community. This article reminded me of that story.

Up until 1973 college was free in CA. in 1973 CA homeowners voted to end free college and take a tax cut on their homes.

According to proposition 13, CA homeowners pay the same property tax as the value of the home when the bought it. In CA homeprices have risen by as many as 10x in the last four decades and many homeowners pay the same tax as the 70s. Additionally, the tax rate can be passed down to descendants in the family.

Since, we know that as a fact suburbs were segreated as were homeloans, Prop. 13 gave white CA residents a huge advantage. For ex. in Santa Cruz many baby boomers own several properties as landlords in a college town. Rent is high and so is the housing market. All to the benefit of homeowners.

Also tuition keeps increasing!
