In this scene of 'The Good, The Bad and The Ugly', Leone uses both cinematography and editing effectively. Firstly, the opening shows the character of 'The Ugly' on the floor at the gravestone. However, when 'The Good' comes onto the scene, Leone uses a high-angle shot looking down on 'The Ugly' to represent him as an inferior figure and lower than 'The Good'. This also shows that 'The Good' has control and power of the scene, for example when 'The Ugly' is digging the grave, he is on his knees were as 'The Good' is fully stood up and the camera is on level with his eyes. In addition to this, Leone uses an extreme close-up on 'The Ugly's' face to portray his emotions and suprise at 'The Good's' arrival. Furthermore, when the three characters come to duel, they are spaced out in a triangle formation to show that each character is at equal potential of both winning or losing. Also, when the three are finally spaced out, Leone uses editing to change through a variety of extreme close-up shots at a fast pace to show how tension and climax is building. Leone also shows close ups of the characters weapons to remind the audience of the current situation and threat at hand.
