The 1st PAQS Congress was held in Singapore in June 1997 and at this meeting, the Institution of Surveyors Malaysia attended officially for the first time as a full member.

PAQS is made up of member organizations from countries and regions including Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.

On the other hand, New Zealand Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NZIQS)Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers (SISV) also join formation of a regional QS organization.

PAQS also plays an important role in advancing the quantity surveying profession and promoting professional excellence and ethical conduct among its members in the Asia Pacific region and beyond.

In addition, PAQS advocates for the value of quantity surveying and the contributions it can make to the built environment. The association engages with industry stakeholders, policymakers, and the public to raise awareness of the importance of quantity surveying, and supports the development of quantity surveying organizations in emerging economies.

The main purpose PAQS : to promote the highest standards of quantity surveying practices, education, and professional conduct among its members, and to facilitate collaboration and knowledge-sharing among member organizations.
