Clover made a sort of wall round them with her great foreleg," (Orwell 27). The text states, "Fix your eyes on that, comrades, throughout the short remainder of your lives! And above
all, pass on this message of mine to those who come after you, so that future generations shall carry on the struggle until it is victorious" (Orwell 30). He also encouraged the animals to work together and treat each other as equals instead of enemies, "All men are enemies. All animals are comrades” (Orwell 30).

Old Major states, "I do not think, comrades, that I shall be with you for many months longer, and before I die, I feel it my duty to pass on to you such wisdom as I have acquired." (Orwell 27). By beginning to transmit his reflections on governance to the other animals, he is setting a precedent for authority.

Old Major would influence the other farms even after his death into rebelling against their farm owners. He would play the role of Karl Marx in our time, and spread his ideas to the working class, or in this case, the animals. Major mentions to the animals, “Why then do we continue in this miserable condition? Because nearly the whole of the produce of our labour is stolen from us by human beings” (Orwell 28). With this statement from Old Major, it is clear of his thoughts of the current state as "miserable" and that their "labour is stolen." We can infer that since he does not like the current state, as he is giving the animals a reason to rebel for, he will want things to change, and influence the other animals to rebel against their farm owners. If they successfully rebel, their revolutionary ideas will travel from farm to farm and spread further and further.
