My favourite is The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath by H.P Lovecraft. It's a departure from the author's normal cosmic-horror style, and is closer to a darker "Alice in Wonderland" type of story, that plays into the strange quality of dreams, whilst still having the darker elements the author is more known for.

One of my favourites has to be, The 7 (7 1/2 in some versions from the US) Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton. If you enjoy a murder mystery this is definitely one to read. Not your normal murder mystery it is such an inventive mind bending story. A few favourite quotes from it jumped out at me but one in particular 'we are never more ourselves than when we think people aren't watching'. Highly recommended!

One of my favourites would be Matt Haigs "Notes on a Nervous Planet" - It delves into how the modern world has an impact on our mental health and gives suggestions on how to help with it. I found it very useful for myself and return to it every now and then

A lover of classics, a couple of my favourites have to be Frankenstein & Dracula. I wrote my dissertation about religion & science in literature using both these novels. Pride & Prejudice is also a big favourite. Read all 3 multiple times, most highly recommended if you love a classic.

Recommended to me as the favourite book of an old colleague. It's a struggle to get used to the writing style but 90 pages in I'm finally loving it. Mesmerising and atmospheric.

This beautiful, life-affirming book was my favourite I read last year. A story about the impact of gender transition on a gay relationship, it also deals sensitively with issues such as race, nationality, love, art and more. I'd especially recommend this book to fans of Sally Rooney- as well as anyone in their 20s . I think, more than any other I've read, this book goes beyond being a 'trans' or 'lgbtq' novel to become something quite universal and brilliant. It's also set in Cambridge and Camberwell- two of my favourite places.

Here's one to make you laugh out loud - hilarious!!

Just finished Stranded. A group are "stranded" on an island as part of a new reality TV show and it all starts to go wrong. A great thriller and didn't want to put it down.
