Focusing on Bias helps us to realign with the standards. Teachers should not be biased because the students will pick up on how we feel like they should think instead of being independent learners.

It is important to understand biases in an assessment because you do not know if you will offend or give a disadvantage because of a student's gender, ethnicity, religion, or socioeconomic status. My new post is similar but more in depth compared to my groups first response because I thought biases in assessments was only to offend students not to give students a disadvantage.

We should spend time understanding biases in assessments to avoid creating assessments that offend or unfairly penalize students. Two procedures that can identify unfairness are a judgement approach (relies on the opinions of reliable bias test reviewers) and an empirical approach (relies on differentiating items for large numbers of students). My new post is similar to my previous group post. We stated that these biases needed to be understood in order to avoid creating and administering these assessments.
