It very important for students to understand the goals behind each assignment because they are able to understand what you are asking from them. When assignments are promote equity in the classroom. It allows for students to feel confident in what they are doing, and in there learning. The steps I can take when making sure assessments to align with the learning goals. Is that I always keep the goals that I have set on my mind. I make sure that each and every kids understand what each goal means, and knows how to reach that goal. I also needs to let kids step themselves goals within my goals, so they can hit there own goals as well.

It is important for students to understand that there is a reason behind why you are teaching them the subject that you are. They need to know that there are clear and demonstrable skills or knowledge that they are gearing towards. This creates higher levels of engagement and adds meaning to their learning.

Well-assigned assessments can help show students where they are at in their learning progress and help them to see the worth in the hard work they have been doing. If the assessment does not align with the goals you told them, then they are not likely to try hard or see any point to the assessment (if there is one).

Steps I can take to ensure that my assessments align with my goals is designing as much of the assessments in the pre-planning process so that I can be sure they align with my goals, not making stuff up as I go. Making sure these goals are clearly told to my students so that they also know what to expect can help keep me accountable to creating aligned assessments.
