Hello... 

We do hope you've been enjoying the summer weather and fingers crossed it continues throughout the summer holidays!  The parent council wanted to take this opportunity to wish all families a happy and safe summer holidays! 

It's been a really successful year for Gore Glen and we have been in good hands with Jennifer Allison! Jennifer has been very supportive of the school and the parent council over the last year - thanks so much! 

We will be looking forward to seeing Amy Milne return after the summer! 

We also wanted to take this time to reflect over all the hard work and contributions the parent council and families have made to the school in this past year. 

The parent council have been able to support and help a number of initiatives this year:

  • Halloween Disco's
  • Christmas Fair
  • Countless Bake Sales!
  • P7 Year books
  • Variety of Outdoor Learning Equipment - contributing £3000 to the school
  • Outdoor and Indoor learning for the nursery too! 
  • Christmas Cards and Coasters 
  • Tea Towels and Totes Bags!
  • Support Park Smart Campaign
  • Christmas Jumper Swap
  • School Uniform Drive
  • Easter Trail and Prizes!
  • Sports Day Ice Cream!

We could not have achieved so much in the last year without the help and generosity of the school community! Thank you all very much!

These have all been possible thanks to you all supporting our fundraising efforts this year. We honestly cannot thank you enough for the support. This year we managed to raise a whopping £4,797 🥳😱, and during 2022/2023 have contributed £3,500 to school projects/initiatives to further support enhancing the outdoor learning space!

The class tea towels and coasters was again another huge success, which resulted in over £481 going into our fundraising pot! We hope you love them as much as we do ☺️

The Parent council would like to say farewell to the P7's and wish them all the very best in their next adventure!

The Parent Council covered the cost of the P7's Year Book, with the help of all the fundraising! We hope this is a tradition we can continue to support.

Meetings are currently the first Thursday of the month at 7pm virtually, or the first Weds of the month in person, alternating each month. This will be up for discussion at the AGM in Sept in case there are days that better suit people

Annual General Meeting - Thursday 7th Sept, will be confirmed after the summer.

We hope this can continue through next year, ensuring all the good work of the parent council can continue to go from strength to strength!

Two of our longest standing parent council members are leaving this year...

They have both contributed so much of their free time and effort over the years - they will be very missed! 

You have Sam to thank for all our the amazing tea towels and coasters, the school discos... plus so much more!

Special shout out to our two Dads who built the amazing mud kitchen - apologies we didn’t get your names!

We would love to run the community event yearly going forward where we update/refresh outdoor items and have a good tidy up.  

With your support we have been able to fund the following:
  • 4 outdoor sofas - 2 for the P5-7 playground, 1 for the P2-4 playground and 1 for the P1 playground.
  • The game cornhole to be enjoyed by all
  • Additional outdoor bricks for P1
  • Forest Water Run and Sand pit tables for the nursery
  • Hammock and materials to create some shade in the Glenable playground with some support for their sensory planting to come
  • Flooring for the Tipi to be used by all.

This would not be possible without all the contributions that have been made by families of Gore Glen. 

We hope they will be of benefit to all the children, for years to come!

We were able to provide the nursery with £500 towards their outdoors area, and Glenable were also given £500!

Huge thanks to Peter Gillespie (P3 parent) for helping pick up, arranging transport and build this playhouse for the nursery children!! Thank you also to the other volunteers that came to help! The children love the new playhouse and will enjoy it for many years to come.

MarySarahMac https://padlet.com/MarySarahMac/GGPC_June23/wish/2622113876 Sports Days are a great opportunity for the school to come together with families and support the children to take part in the fun sporting activities! 

The parent council have been providing the children with a well deserved treat for the last couple of years!

This year was a particularly hot day for parents watching, the parent council would be happy to provide refreshments for those families watching, but this will only be possible going forward if we can get enough volunteers to help on the day!
