         <title>Immigrants</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Their role: </p><p>Immigrants volunteered in the war to prove their loyalty and love for their new country. They were also encouraged to join to raise the overall patriotism in the country and expand the army.</p><p>Stats: </p><p>18% of WW1 soldiers were immigrants. Nearly 500,000 immigrant soldiers fought for the US in WW1. more than 300,000 foreign-born soldiers and veterans became U.S. citizens through their military service during WWI.</p><p>Facts: </p><p>Some immigrants volunteered in the war to gain US citizenship. Immigrants serving in WW1 for the US made people more accepting of it and made the term, "American" more inclusive.          <title>Code Talkers</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The Code Talkers were Native American soldiers that used their native language to communicate over phone. They would make codes and secret messages that the enemy would not be able to decipher. They could give quick coded communication.</p><p>                            Statistics</p><p>1.) There was a total of 18 code talkers. There was 16 in 142D Infantry Regiment and 2 in the 143D Infantry Regiment.</p><p>2.) 100% of the code talkers were Native American.</p><p>3.) 0 died because they were never deployed in combat.</p><p>                             Facts</p><p>1.) 14 Native American Nations served as code talkers.</p><p>2.)          <title>Asian Americans</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>-Many Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Filipinos enlisted in the War mainly in the Navy. </p><p>Many of the spouses of these Soldiers also served in the Red cross to provide medicare and food for injured soldiers. </p><p>-Following the War, soldiers of Asian ancestry were recognized for their, contribution to the war effort and were allowed to become naturalize citizens.</p><p><br/></p><p>-Nearly 2 million Asians were in the war. </p><p>Asian American women were working at red cross. </p><p><br/></p><p>-Foreign recruits were organized into training units by language, led by multilingual officers. Resources were provided for traditional celebrations and religious services, and ethnic foods were served at mealtime. </p><p><br/></p><p>-Immigrants received intensive classes in English, American history and civics.</p><p><br/></p><p>-There were more than 5,700 Filipinos serving in the Navy by the end of the war.
