-Throughout the passage, human euthanasia is discussed as a way of "escaping" for lack of a better world not only the pain suffered from terminal and degenerative diseases like Calloway's MS, but also as a way to "die with dignity" as such illnesses take someone's very being and turn them into a husk of their former selves. People like Calloway mention how going on isnt worth it anymore saying that this lifestyle ist worth living "because my level of disability is not acceptable for me; it's not being true to myself. I have really lost a lot of who I was." Those who suffer these illnesses wish to gain access to MAID (medical aid in dying) before becoming human shells bound to life by pain and marked by later on a inability to do anything for their own with an example being Calloway's MS which, with time, renders patients who suffer from it completely paralyzed and therefore unable to take the drug used in MAID as the law requires that said patient not only be eligible once the disease had progressed to its later stages but also take the drug independently without any administration by another person which takes you into a predicament with the obvious reason being that someone horribly ill cant administer their own medication as they are either not in the right mental or physical state to do so.

The statistics as shown above support the claim that MAID (medically aid in dying)/human euthanasia is seen in medical and the public opinion as a merciful way to allow someone to pass away peacefully if their conditions are painful and uncurable instead of letting them wait for death in agony and it being agreed upon that at times should they not be able to make the call, that family members be able to make that decision the way a family chooses to pull a ill family member off life support.

The graph shown discusses the reasons why a person might choose to "die with dignity" as loosing autonomy, one's individuality and sense of self, being the most feared as a diseases destroys the physical and mental aspects of the body rendering the patient completely dependent on someone else's assistance with the idea of being a motionless husk of a person who cant even clean themselves passes over them just as time will where they will only become more incapacitated till they cant even comprehend the passage time along with a loss of dignity in the process. In addition to the nightmarish process of being forced to wait for death, patients understand as their conditions worsen that they'll be forced to cut out the activities and things that give them their spark, their purpose as for example a late stage cancer patient weak from treatments becomes unable to hike their favorite or a person with Alzheimer's not only cant do the art which defined their lives before but not even recognize their own children.

As mentioned in the article some of the key arguments against human euthanasia, aside from religion which does not apply to most, include the idea that human euthanasia "lionizes despair and encourages callousness at the expense of the vulnerable." The statement found around the end of the article sum up the idea proposed that human euthanasia is only chosen by people in their most vulnerable and desperate states, when they see a painless death as the only option rather than live on in agony. The article also mentions how as bans on MAID lift, we might see eventually see people with depression become eligible when the whole point of fighting the diseases is to avoid suicide. However cant it be argued that most terminally and chronically ill were never truly given a chance when they were made aware of their final hour? That its unethical to keep someone bound to the earth in pain where they will only wish more for death and if desperate enough might brutally take their lives by their own hand? Its for these reasons that we must make MAID nationwide while in addition making patients eligible only after review by their doctors on whether their prior mental health and current condition (as well as future) would benefit from what should always be an option but a final resort at the same time.
