I think that girls have more issues with weight. Around the age of 15 or 16, girls commonly become larger in the hips and waist for maternity reasons, while males just gain muscle. It is more common to see larger girls than boys because of that reason. When you look at famous actresses or singers that are female, most of them portray a "perfect" body, which makes younger girls believe that being skinny is the only way they can be perfect, even though it is natural for girls to gain weight around that age.

I don't know if it is because we teens are now at the age where we are self-conscious about ourselves, we want to impress the other gender, or both. I'm not saying that I don't think boys care, I am just saying that I think girls care more; especially with all of this generation's role models like Beyonce and the Kardashians. Social media is also a factor.

I believe that girls have more issues than guys. Girls are always competing to see who has the better body or prettier face. They always try everything to look there best for some guy or to be the "prettiest" girl around. On the other hand, we barely see guys trying to out do themselves to look good. They don't try as hard as girls do. Girls get surgery's, wear tons of makeup, tighter clothes, or go on special diets to loose weight. They can hurt themselves physically and mentally. That's why I think, sure you can try to look "prettier," but your pretty the way you are and its better to be different than the same as every other girl.

In my opinion, I believe both girls and boys struggle with feeling insecure about their appearance and how they look, especially in the type of society that we live in today. Although most people would automatically assume that girls have more issues with how they look and are often more reared with the idea that they have more insecurity issues, I would have to disagree. Boys can be just as hurt and self conscious about themselves, even if they have a better way of not showing it. For example, a lot of the time, boys are thrown into the category of having to have a pretty face, hardcore abs, and be 6 feet tall to "impress a girl", just how girls feel they have to look like a size zero model to feel good about themselves. I would have to blame this on society for making kids at such young ages and any gender feel insecure with the way they look. Magazines all over the world throw ideas at people of any age that they have to follow specific trends and dress a certain way to "fit in". In conclusion, I believe both girls and boys struggle with societies standards and strive to be something unrealistic.

I personally think that boy and girls both have issues with how much they weigh. I just believe that it's more portrayed through girls. Such as in movies or shows it's usually female characters with weight insecurities or physical appearances in general, but I definitely do think that boys get insecure with their weight in the real world. There's a lot of people who struggle with their weight because of society trying to pressure people into being "perfect". Its because of magazines, models, and even actors/actresses they all look "perfect" they have perfect hair, bodies, and even smiles its a little pressuring because people cant help but compare themselves to these "perfect" people.

In my opinion, I think both boys and girls have issues on how much they weigh. It doesn't always have to be girls who have issues with it. Boys can also not agree on with how much they weigh. I feel like most boys just don't show it as much as girls do. Lots of people feel that way because they want to try to look like the famous people on photo shopped magazines and reality shows, that have "perfect bodies." For a girl she can maybe feel insecure about herself because she feels like she isn't good enough to be that slim or have such an incredible body. It honestly shouldn't matter what body shape you have because everyone is different in their own way. Society just makes people believe it's okay to starve yourself and do anything you can to be skinny. In all, I just think nobody should feel the need to try to be like those people that have a "perfect everything."

I personally think girls have more issues with how much they weigh. Most girls don't really exercise as much as boys do which is completely fine but they might not have much motivation causing them to become lazy. Also girls body's change through most of their life and then get unmotivated causing them to begin to bring themselves down with the thought they can't do it. Especially now since that's what most of our social media consist of like trying to look better than the other. I don't think guys have big issues with their weight because most of the population of boys are very active and usually always working out in some way. That's why I believe girls have more issues with how much they way.

This question sort of raises the topic of sexism in my mind in a way. Women's body types are pretty stereotypical. Big boobs, nice butt, blah blah blah. Women are more pressured to "diet" or "exercise" their body to get the right appearance. Girls definitely face problems with their weight. But girls weight could be made more public while boys keep it more on the down low. Boys and girls could equally struggle. The media just focuses more on women because they seem to enjoy bringing insecurity to women. Most of the things you see in magazines are idiotic people bashing female celebrities for having a pimple or being "too flat". I think society blows everything out of proportion.
