Before this course, I really just thought EdTech was using things like PowerPoint or Zoom. But I’ve learned it’s so much more than that. Technology can completely change how students learn and how teachers teach. Tools like Mural and Notion aren’t just there to make things look nice, they actually help students stay organized, collaborate, and be more creative. I also learned how important it is to choose tech tools that match what you’re trying to teach, not just use them for fun. Things like the SAMR and Triple E frameworks helped me understand how to use tech meaningfully and not just as a replacement for paper.

I’ve found a few tools that I really want to bring into my own classroom one day:

Blooket is perfect for review games that get students excited while still practicing important skills.
Flip gives students the chance to record themselves talking about what they’ve learned, it’s great for kids who are shy or need more time to process.
Notion is awesome for helping both students and teachers stay organized. I could use it for keeping track of assignments, sharing resources, or having students build digital portfolios.
Mural is great for group work and brainstorming. Students can add their thoughts in real time and actually see how their classmates think.
These tools all make learning more interactive and give students more voice and choice.

One of my biggest goals is to make sure every student feels included and supported. I want to use technology to help students who may struggle in a traditional classroom, whether that’s because of a learning challenge, language barrier, or just a different learning style. I also want to build a classroom where students feel safe to take risks and speak up, even if they’re not always right. I know tech isn’t perfect and can be a distraction, but I want to find that balance where students are engaged, focused, and actually enjoying the learning process.

The ISTE Standards helped me understand what it really means to be a modern teacher. These stood out the most:

Learner: I want to keep growing as an educator and keep up with new ideas and tools.
Leader: I want to support students and help them find success through meaningful use of tech.
Citizen: I’ll teach students to use tech safely, respectfully, and responsibly.
Collaborator: I’ll work with other teachers and students to share ideas and solve problems together.
These goals remind me that good teaching is always changing, and that’s a good thing.

One of the biggest takeaways from this class was how important it is to build a network of other educators. I plan to keep using platforms like Twitter to follow teachers, find new tools, and get lesson ideas. I also liked using Padlet and could definitely use it in the classroom or for professional collaboration. ISTE is another great place to find community and stay updated. Working with others helps me feel supported and gives me fresh ideas to try. I want to be the kind of teacher who shares and learns with others, not just in my own school but across the world.
