-Made in China and Asia
-Came from 1000 B.C.-A.D.1
-Defies the obdurate character of Jade and makes it appear to be impossibly supple and pliant. Takes the form of a serpentine Dragon. Whose body is grooved to resemble twisted rope. It defies the nature of the medium by making the body appear to have tied itself in a double knot.

The sculptor chose the moment in the performance when one sleeve is thrown back as the dancer gently stoops and flexes her knees, lifting one heel from the floor, she is motionless for a split second

Analyze

The Knotted Dragon Pendant confused me at first but when I really got to think about it and analyze it myself I understood in my own by seeing how you can tie yourself up with your own demons hence the serpent as a symbol. The cultural meaning/context of the art is that it illustrates the talent and skill of early Chinese Jade Carvers ,in whose hands intractable Jade seems like a supple and malleable material.
The Female Dancer amused me with its elegance and the pause in time it captures the middle of the dance in as slow as a second. In Chinese history they have things called Spirit Goods or Ming qi with a host of Worldly Goods in Chinese Tombs. Tomb Furnishings reflected the wealth ,status and interests of the deceased, while equipping tombs with an act of homage. This figure vividly captures the moment when one long sleeve thrown back and the other falling down, a dancer gently performing s dance described in Han Dynasty Poetry.
The Winged Cup With Geometric Designs was really ugly when I first seen it. It looks like it most likely belonged to a matched set of eating and drinking vessels. It was made in the eastern Zhou Dynasty, warring states period.
