]]> 2016-10-31 00:30:50 UTC https://padlet.com/mara_l_connolly/vvqqxjfulxr1/wish/134121068 Chains mara_l_connolly https://padlet.com/mara_l_connolly/vvqqxjfulxr1/wish/134121275 In the story Chains, hypocrisy is show by many characters, though, it is mainly found within the rebels.  This is true because the rebels craved freedom for themselves, but were not willing to give it to the slaves as well.  Many of the rebel leaders owned slaves and treated them very poorly.  A slave at the well said, "The rebels want to take freedom, but they won't share it with us." (Anderson 166).  The rebels are fighting the British for independence, and all the while, have people chained under their control. 

]]> 2016-10-31 00:33:51 UTC https://padlet.com/mara_l_connolly/vvqqxjfulxr1/wish/134121275 History mara_l_connolly https://padlet.com/mara_l_connolly/vvqqxjfulxr1/wish/134122682 The Westboro Baptist Church has shown many cases of hypocrisy for multiple years now.  The church has strong interpretations of the Bible, one of which is "God Hates Fags," and are strongly against gays.  They also demonstrate what they believe by protesting at funerals for veterans.  The article states, "The church is notorious for routinely picketing funerals of military veterans, gay activists, and disaster victims in an effort to denounce homosexuals and abortion rights."  This is hypocrisy because the Bible says that God loves everyone and to forgive others of their trespasses.  (Can be found in Romans 5:8 and Matthew 6:14.)  So, they say that they are doing God's work, but the Bible states the complete opposite.  ]]> 2016-10-31 00:52:37 UTC https://padlet.com/mara_l_connolly/vvqqxjfulxr1/wish/134122682 How they fit together mara_l_connolly https://padlet.com/mara_l_connolly/vvqqxjfulxr1/wish/134187021 The hypocrisy in Chains and the hypocrisy in the Westboro Baptist Church fit together in many ways.  In Chains, the rebels wish to have freedom, but don't give that same freedom to the slaves.  Then, the Westboro Baptist Church is doing what they think is God's work, even though what they are doing is the opposite of what the Bible states. These fit together because in both scenarios, they are saying they want or believe something, but don't show it to others.
