In colonial Boston, around 1768, there were 4,000 British soldiers sent by King George to Boston to help more strictly enforce his laws. Thats a ratio of four colonists to one British soldier. I believe the colonists eventually realized that with their numbers, it would be do-able to overpower the British if they wanted to.

I think it's interesting that the colonists are much healthier than the citizens still living in British territory, is this because they are eating healtghier and more raw foods?

The Boston Massacre sparked the pony express! The story about the "most powerful army in the world firing on an unarmed crowd" angers the colonists. Paul Revere captures this historical moment.

The Boston Tea party is one of the biggest reactions to British action in history. 340 chests of tea ruined, this action sparks the Coercive Acts, or as the colonists call them, The Intolerable Acts.

Britian wants increasing power over the increasingly sucsessful colonies and their cities.

only defence were malitia men

"I am not a virginian I am an American." - Patrick Henery

There was one Redcoat for every 4 colonists. It's amazing on how fast and steadily America was able to grow. I don't see why the colonists had different rights than the people in England. They are still citizens, they deserve to have just as equal and fair rights as all other citizens, no matter if they live in America or not. It seemed that after the colonists had learned how to live and thrive, that they were actually healthier and and better off for a long while then the citizens in England. Paul Revere was able to create an image of the Boston Massacre. I thought it was cool how they were able to deliver the newspaper about the Boston Massacre to almost all thirteen colonies before the English found out by using night riders. Five men were killed in the Boston Massacre. I thought it was a super bad idea that the soldiers fired into the crowd, this would only make the colonists angrier. This was also how we gained our independence, so maybe it wasn't such a bad thing after all... "If the British were to attack one colony, it was considered an attack on all of them" "I am no longer a Virginian, I am American"-Patrick Henry

In my opinion, the colonists that settled in America should have been more prepared when coming to a foreign country that they have no idea what is there. After many struggles, they got the hang of how to run and govern the colonies, and soon flourished in making money, creating more colonies, and trading with other colonies, and even countries. Some of the trading with other countries caused problems. For example, the Boston tea party, when colonists dumped the British' tea in the water for taxing them. Over all, the British had control of almost everything that the colonists could and couldn't do. This upset the colonists so they started conflicts with the British, like in the Boston Massacre, when soldiers sent from the British government ("Red Coats") killed five colonists in an argument. The colonists soon began realizing that they had to not only protect tem selves, but everypne in America.

Why did the king let the colonists move to America in the first place? Then he wouldn't have to send away so many soldiers. I can hardly believe that he sent 4000 Red Coats. Also, why didn't more British come to the colonies after seeing that the colonists got twice a rich as they were before?

I thought it was cool how they had their newspapers delivered across the land like how we do today.

If about all of the colonies knew about the Boston Massacre, then wouldn't the British find out? Also if they did, why didn't they do anything about it?

Now I get the reason why we are called the United States of America.I thought that it was really cool how the colonies teamed up with each other

Why did King George send many of his soldiers to the colonies when he could declare war and claim the areas of land as his own (if he won), and then make sure the colonists pay the taxes? Surely his strategy caused more boycotts, uprisings, and deaths than needed.

Why did the Red Coats fire into the unarmed crowd? Did they feel the need to protect themselves? But what would they need to protect themselves from? They could have dodged more protests, but now, with the news of the Boston Massacre spreading, they caused Britain much more than boycotts.

What was the objective in the Red Coats' decisions? For instance: the British wanted the colonists to have no weapons, because they didn't want any resistance. But surely they knew they couldn't keep resisting the colonists forever. So why did they even try to push the colonists in that direction?

They would have to chop down thousands of trees, all the forest couldn't be gone.

A mob of colonists started calling a group of British soldiers names, angered by this, the soldiers aimed at the colonists. Some soldiers were hit with clubs. A few of the soldiers fired. They may have fired out of fright or anger.
