I don’t believe Hamlets reason for sparing Claudius. He had a perfect opportunity to kill him because no one was around, and he had the chance to say how he felt along with why he wanted Claudius dead. I’m a strong believer of if a person really wanted to they would, so I just think Hamlet was having second thoughts. Hamlet claims he wants Claudius dead as revenge of his father’s murder, but he had the perfect opportunity to do so and chose not to.

I do believe in Hamlet's reasoning because it made sense especially in the play. It was proven that the undead can come back onto the Earth(example being Hamlet's father). So it would prove of an afterlife which means that Claudius' prayer would clear his name and send him to heaven if Hamlet were to kill him right there. Hamlet would want Claudius to pay for his actions and wait for him to sin again to make sure he does not go to heaven. A personal experience of my own was when a family member of mine passed, and as a family we did all of these prayers which led to belief that our deceased family member came back and inhabited another family member to speak with us one final time.

Regardless of if he was able too kill Claudius he is till just a kid and at some level i belive that he is still trying to buy himself more time to muster up the strength to kill a family member. The reasons as to why this would be hard is because hes not killing a total stranger this is his uncle and his own flesh and blood. he also has never done this before so no matter what the cause this will still have a mental toll on Hamlet. in my personal life there has been many moments where
I have tried to postpone an event because I wasnt in the right mindset or still too afriand to commit to the task.

I believe Hamlets reasoning for sparing Claudius because Claudius killed Hamlets father so it makes sense for Hamlet to want Claudius to suffer, against killing him after he's been forgiven and to go to heaven. also Hamlet sparing Claudius could also be a sign of weakness in Hamlet, because even though he has the passion and has the anger. can he really kill someone, let alone his own uncle. I have personally never been in a situation where I had the chance to kill someone and was thinking it over, but something similar is when something happens to me that would make anyone angry but I choose not to show violence to that person, but to resolve it in other ways.

I do believe hamlets reasoning for sparing his uncle because it’s understandable that he wants his uncle to be in a position where he can get revenge properly and not just him praying and not knowing what’s happening to him. I also this he wants to catch his uncle after something that he thinks is punishable like getting drunk or sleeping with his moms since hamlet has said he hates how royalty parties and it would make sense to be upset that his uncle slept with his mom.

Yes, I believe that Hamlet was being truthful in his reason to not kill Claudius. Back in the time of Hamlet whether or not you were gonna be sent to Heaven or to Hell was a lot more real back then, and a lot of people worried about that. So Hamlet didn't kill Claudius while he was praying because he didn't want Claudius to go to heaven, he wants to catch him doing something bad and then kill him so he goes to Hell. Hamlet wants Claudius to feel the pain that his father felt when he is alive and isnt.

I don’t believe Hamlet’s reasoning because I think he actually feels guilty about killing his uncle. Hamlet is making excuses for himself by saying, “When he’s sleeping off some drunken orgy…or committing some other act that has no goodness about it-that’s when I’ll trip him up.” In reality, I think Hamlet knows that it makes no difference when he kills him because he is a bad person either way. Instead he hesitates because he’s not sure if he is willing to kill his uncle no matter what he’s done. I also feel empathy for those who don’t deserve it like Hamlet. This is what leads him to spare Claudius.

I do not believe Hamlets reasoning for sparing Claudius. It kind of just seems like he's stalling for time and that he just isn't prepared to kill him. He doesn't want to seem like a weenie so he goes on a long monologue to justify his decision. There's really no other reason for Hamlet to not kill Claudius. The timing is perfect. He could probably do it without getting caught. So why won't he do it? He's scared. OR he at least is having second thoughts about killing Claudius.

I don't believe Hamlet's explanation because his entire goal was to kill Claudius and yet when he has the chance to commit the act he hesitates and then stops. I believe that while Hamlet would want revenge for his father, he would realize the position that he would be in and would come soon to regret his decision. It's seem more like a reason to gather his bearings rather than act out all of the anger and that in his heart. If I was Hamlet I would take the chance since that has been my main goal that I would want to achieve. Hate is a strong emotion and yet Hamlet didn't go through with what he intended.

I don't believe Hamlets reasoning for not killing Hamlet because he has been planning on doing this and been wanting to kill him since he found out about his fathers death. I think its multiple reasons for him not killing him. My first reason is because he probably doesn't want to just kill him that easily, maybe he wants to torture him to show that he knows about his fathers true death and then kill him. My second reason is maybe he thought about what he was doing or snapped back into reality and just thought like "if i kill him this can change everything"... I assume he must not want to go to Hell or hasn't mentally prepared for what is next to come after the death.

I don't believe Hamlet's reason for sparing Claudius. Hamlet says, "A villain kills my father, and I, my father's only son, send this same villain to heaven. Seems like I jut did him a favor." Hamlet is only sparing Claudius in favor of him and his father. He doesn't want Claudius to go to heaven so he's using the excuse that he believe Claudius is actually sorry due to him admitting his sins as to if why he didn't kill him.

Well in his perspective if he truly believes that admitting your sins gives you a seat in heaven then i would suppose he has a point since it is his beliefs. He doesn't say that hes going to spare him forever, it's only for the time being until he feels that the time is right. Especially ( going by Hamlet's beliefs) if he were to kill Claudius he would be sending him to heaven which I'm pretty sure he would want to kill him to suffer in hell instead.

Yes, it was a perfect opportunity for him to kill him right there but Hamlet wants him to suffer for what he did. If he was to kill him while he was pray for his sins he would of been like Hamlet's dad meaning coming back to earth as a ghost. Also, I feel as Hamlet isn't fully prepared to do something as big as killing somebody, he is hesitating a lot. If I was hamlet I would of been the exact way just because he would have that guilt and maybe consequences if he doesn't do it right enough. I feel like he's gonna wait it off a little while longer and then go for it.

I do believe Hamlets reasoning to spare Claudius. I believe him for spearing him because he had the opportunity to do it. They were all alone. I think personally Hamlet wants to do it because he talks about god and the after life sometimes in the book, which can be reflecting how strong his belifes for religon are. I think Hamlet has a lot of built up emotions towards Claudius because of his moms relationship with him and his uncle, and would want him to stay and suffer. I think if Hamlet gets the oppurtunity to kill him while hes doing something wrong he 100% will.
