Eugenics took off in the 20th century, with many countries and many universities having it as an actual subject. There was even an international eugenics conference. While the most widely known case of the implementation of eugenics policies was Nazi Germany and their pograms which ultimatly lead to the Holocaust, a great number of countries, including the USA, UK, France, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Japan and Sweden. Of which what could be considered most horrific was the USA's policies, where it was implemented to such an extent that the Nazi Eugenics pogram was actually built upon what the USA had done. Only by the turn of the century did all of the Eugenics laws in the USA get repealed.
