Some cultures have similar standards, some have polar opposites.

North Americans value being tanned, Chinese strive to have a pale complexion. North Americans tend to have lengthy beauty routines, where the french go for a natural look. While North Americans do change their bodies we may not go the same lengths as those from Kayan people or African tribes.

We as a whole need to be open minded when looking at other cultures, not to judge so quickly.
