4. I participate in a local community theater as well as help run it as a board member. I work both onstage as an actor and behind the scenes running the lights and stage managing.
 
5. Reading has been a major part of my life since I was a kid, and always helped me to understand the world I didn't have the ability to fully explore. Now, as an educator, I have the opportunity to help them work through their thoughts and opinions to find a better understanding of themselves and the world. Prompts that push for their personal opinion and understanding are my favorite to teach, mostly because I love to write them too.

4)I am a first-generation Master's student in my family and I am bilingual (I also speak Greek).
5) I love narrative writing, memoirs, reading and writing poetry. I also love to learn about my students by giving them creative writing assignments and projects.

7) I chose this gif because I love a good Schitts Creek reference and because I always tell my students that everything we say needs to come from a place of understanding. "I understand" is a misused phrase and people throw it around when they actually don't understand the situation. This matters to me in reading, writing, speaking and listening because when someone is speaking we need to respectful and actually listen. I want to instill this habit in my students because I know it will make them better people in the long run.

4- Fun facts? 
I play several instruments, none particularly masterfully (piano, guitar, drums, congas, ocarina), I've studied mixed martial arts before, I currently am teaching social studies at a middle school.

5- Interests in literacy, English, English Language Arts education? 

Being an educator comes to me as a means of paying it forward. I grew up on section 8 housing and food stamps, so that I had educators help me progress out of poverty puts me in a position to want to pay it forward and put change in that gives future students an avenue for success. Why literacy and ELA? It always amazes me that a lack of understanding multiple perspectives and different means of expression has disenfranchised so many. The best way to combat that I feel is from the inside. I'd go further into detail, but I feel concision is a skill I'm trying to improve on.
