Write a textual analysis on how the question of idea, knowledge and ethics circulate within any “text” of your choice.  The “text” can be a short story, a novel, a film, a music video, a philosophical writing, a text on psychology or any other material of YOUR CHOOSING. 

In writing your response you might focus on:

1.    Analyze the “text” as insightfully as possible.  
2.    Elaborate on what you think of the terms “idea”, “knowledge” and “ethics”
3.    Elaborate on how they are circulating in the text. What ideas are underlined, what are implied, what ideas are conspicuously absent etc.
4.    How the deployment of such ideas create a kind of knowledge which produces a certain effect. For example does it re-affirm a tradition or a given belief or challenge it.
5.    How does the “text” thereby produce a certain identity of a self who embodies this kind of knowledge or how does it challenge/resist given identities of the self.

Second Assignment: group presentation
"The presentations can be half an hour long and 15 mts for questions and discussion. Like discussed in class- you can elaborate on any of the themes we have been pursuing in class, as it relates to family, it should have psychosocial elements and you may use "cultural products" (a story- film or novel, a practice) to illustrate the themes you are picking through"

Points for the usual- flow (as one finishes, the next connects to what was said before), coherence, analytical complexity, psychosociality. Use of PowerPoint may be useful- though never put full text/sentences in a PowerPoint slide (except useful quotes from texts), then point disappears and with it, power.
