Media reports play an important role in encouraging tourism in an area . Media reports can portray a positive image of a certain destination and hence tourists will want to visit such places . Media reports shown on Social media , Blogs , television , movies , Youtube are just some of the ways media showing certain destinations can enhance tourist traffic at that destination . For example , when a famous Youtuber visits a destination , does a video or blog post on the destination for recount purposes , it creates publicity for that destination and hence attracts tourists to visit that destination .

Government also play a crucial role in promoting tourism in their country . They are often directly involved in planning , funding and building infrastructure projects linked to tourism , such as airports , roads and ports . They also play a major role in ensuring the safety and security of the sites that tourists frequently visit. Governments may also set up agencies that devise strategies to help promote tourism in their country. These strategies may include tourism marketing campaigns and promotional events. For example, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) is a government agency that develops tourism as an industry, facilitating tourism-related businesses are those involved in hotels, resorts, cruises and airlines. The STB encourages the development of new attractions, such as Marina Bay Sands , Gardens by the Bay etc .

Although, media reports attract some tourists to Singapore by posting positive reviews of a destination on various travel websites and guidebooks, government plays a more important role than media reports . Reasons being the government holds more authority by allowing construction of tourism infrastructures which are the reasons why tourists visit Singapore. They are able to build tourist sites and attractions which will attract tourist to the country . without govt who allows for the building of attractions , even with positive reviews , without a proper tourist attraction , media reports will be deemed as incredible and not reliable.

I agree media reports play an important role in encouraging tourism in an area. Media reports about a country or an area can influence the decisions of tourists to visit it. This suggest that information will be communicated to the public, allowing tourists to find out information about the country's well-being. Such media includes television, radio, newspaper, etc. For example, documentary channels visit destinations like Antarctica, tourists are now more aware about the place which they didn't consider in the past. They will be able to take on treks in the Himalayas Mountains and have homestays with the locals.
However, the government also plays an important role in encouraging tourism in an area . the government can control the number of tourists in the country.

Media refers to the channels through which news and information are communicated to the public, such as television, radio, newspapers and the internet. The types of reports can influence the decision of tourists to visit the area. Positive reports such as good shopping opportunities can encourage tourists to visit while negative reports such as incidents of violence can deter visitors. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) stated that the number of tourists visiting the popular winter sun destination will drop by 900,000 over the next six months after reports by the media on the country's political turmoil and violent protests was made known to public in 2014. Hence, the types of information provided by the media can influence the tourists’ decision to visit a destination.

Government are often directly involved in the planning, funding and building infrastructures linked to tourism, such as airports. They also play a major role in ensuring the safety and security of the sites that tourists frequently visit.Their involvement in catering to the needs of the tourists can influence the number of visitors and their length of stay as they had to ensure the destination would be appealing to them. The Singapore tourism Board (STB) is a government agency that promotes Singapore as tourist destination. It aims to develop Singapore as a leading tourist destination for leisure and business in the region. As such the STB has encouraged the development of new attractions, such as River Safari and the Integrated Resort. As a result of active involvement of the government to promote tourism such as through the opening of new attraction, it is able to appeal to the tourists and attract them to visit Singapore as their choice of destination.

In conclusion, there are many other factors promoting tourism in a country such as N.G.O and also travel writers. Media plays a part in promoting tourism however without the government support, the media will not be able to be as successful as they are now in promoting tourism, one such example is the Singapore Tourism Board which is backed by the Singapore government. Travel writers also contribute in promoting tourism as they can give good reviews and feedback on the countries they have been. Therefore, all the factors are equally important in promoting tourism
