The name "puritans" was given to them by the enemies during the English reformation. The puritans left for America in 1630. When  the puritans sailed to America they were really religious and started colonizing in america.

They believed that God chose them and had formed a special bond with them.

Inside the book, it talked about the lifestyles of the Pilgrims. The central idea around the book was the importance of faith. William Bradford and the other Puritans strongly believed in God and his teachings.

The next one is a poem that was made by Anne Bradstreet. The title of the poem is, To My Dear and Loving Husband.  It was a poem by Anne that was made during the Puritanism period. Anne values her husband and does not care if it is a sin.

Edward Taylor was born during the Puritan period. He wrote a poem, Upon a Wasp Chilled with Cold. It talks about a wasp and the wasps represent the Puritans. The wasp in the poem is rubbing it's hands together. That represents the Puritans praying to God.

Roger Williams and Anne Hutchinson were one of the first puritans to rebel against religious authority of the Puritans.

The Salem witch trials were encouraged by the strict religious rules that they followed, when other started accusing suspicious activity.
