The district has requested we conduct another lockdown drill. We will be conducting the drill on Thursday, March 8th. Before the drill identify the place where you and your students will seat away from doors and windows, and make sure your classroom roster in your crisis folder is current.

The lockdown drill will start when we announce “LOCKDOWN, LOCKDOWN, LOCKDOWN” through the PA system. Check the hallway outside your classroom before closing your door. If you see a student in the hallway, have them come to your room. Please make sure that your doors are locked or firmly jammed (K, 1st and 2nd). Lower your blinds and cover the door windows. Turn off lights and projectors. Keep students calmed by using a soft voice, but be firm with the instructions. Keep your crisis folder in hand.

DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR FOR ANYONE!

The lockdown drill will end when we announce “It’s safe to return to normal activities. End of Lockdown”

Open House

We will be holding our GT parent meeting and Open House on Friday, March 9th. GT teachers will meet with parents from 7:10-7:35 in the Library. We will hold parents in the front until 7:35 and then release them to go back to classroom. Mrs. Rios will place a sign-in sheet in your mailbox on the 7th to use for the event. Please turn these into the box outside my door on Friday in the folder labeled Open House.There are many things you can do for open house, but parents really come to see the hard work their children have been doing during the year. Some teachers have done classroom scavenger hunts, digital portfolios (then those parents that can't come can see), student show cases, the list is really endless. The time should be a celebration of sorts for the work their children have done up to this point.Please let us know if you have any questions. We are excited to welcome our parents in to the learning environment you all have created here at Central!

March Cub Celebration

Our Third Nine Weeks Cub Celebration will be on Friday, March 23rd, the week we return from Spring Break. Please enter the name of your Cub award winners and students earning the citizenship bracelets by Friday, March 9th so we can get your bracelets and certificates out to you before the celebration! You can access the form here.

Please make sure to fill in the 3rd sheet for the March award winners, you can check out the first two sheet to refresh your memory on what students have already earned the Top Cub and Always Working Awards! Need a reminder of what each award is given for? Access that info here!

STAAR Designated Supports Request Forms

3rd-5th grade teachers – don’t forget that you must submit information on the Google form AND documentation by Thursday, March 8th. Please let us know what questions you have!

TELPAS

The TELPAS reading assessment has a practice exam you could use with your students to show them the different features and answer types students will have. You could access the practice at https://tx8.testnav.com/client/index.html and click on “Practice Tests”, then choose the appropriate test for your students.

You could practice whole class or in small groups. Thank you for giving the opportunity to be successful in this type of assessments.
