because I consider it to be my safe space, a place for retreat and privacy. Since I don't have a stable home here, I get attached to new places easily. The center of my work represents my room itself, and the outer part represents all the issues that I face every day.  

When creating this piece I wanted to reflect and show the feeling of calmness, for that I used pastel hues (blue, green, and grey). By using those colors I showed that the center of the artwork is supposed to bring a feeling of security. For the "outside" of my safe space, I used dark hues to highlight the darkness and dangers of my surrounding. 

When creating a room from small pieces of paper I was aiming to use low contrast pieces. The feeling of high contrast I tried to show by drawing an invisible frame around the room, which visually brings my safe space in front relatively to so-called darkness.  

For the room, I was aiming to create vanishing boundaries, however, still focused on showing edges between 'wall', 'window', and 'bed'. Therefore, I think that I've got some illusion of transparency at the end.

My final product is pretty close to what I've had initially in mind, yet I would try to improve it by clearly drawing a frame between the 'room' and 'danger'. Why do you think AU requires you to take a class like this, what do you think AU hoped you would learn/experience?

^{For me, this class was an opportunity to develop my artistic abilities and spend some time not thinking about the importance of unnecessary assignments. I always had an amazing time learning something new that will definitely be needed in my future work field, regardless of my major. I have 0 regrets about taking this class!}
