He gives characters gas masks to show that he is still scared of leaving home as if he was hiding behind the mask. The artist tends to use resources such as ripped newspaper and cardboard which he uses in his backgrounds. The resources are collected photographs of aquatic creatures and gas masked characters found online. He has also taken reallife  photographs of his hand.
