Little time had passed after World War 1 had ended was when Germany's economy collapsed. Because of the reparations Germany had to pay, all of the currency they had to print was close to worthless, which is also known as inflation, in that country.

By the time this crisis had occurred, Hitler had already formed his Nazi party. The government in charge of Germany, the Wiemar Government, was having a difficult time before 1933 when it's best chancellor, Gustav Stresemann (historyhome.co.uk), died in 1929. That's almost 4 years ago when he died, and the Wiemar Government still hasn't recovered, and now the Great Depression hits. Now, Hitler and his Nazi Party are now needed the most.

This event had taken place when the Wiemar Government appointed Hitler as chancellor. The Reichstag, the German version of a Parliament, had its' meeting place burnt down by Hitler's Nazi party. Framing the burning as an attack by someone else, Hitler was able to announce and allow an emergency decree that would take away the Civil Liberties of a German citizen. This is one of the attributes of a potential authoritarian government, which would give Hitler even more power if Germany were to become one.

President Paul von Hindenburg, the head of the Wiemar Government, had died in the August of 1934. With the president gone, Hitler had the best chance to launch is plan. With all of his support from Germans and his Nazi party backing him up, Hitler became the "head of the armed forces, the supreme commander-The Fuhrer."(<-Taken from the article). This government position gave him the power of a dictator

Hitler's anti-Semitism added to his madness and influenced his speeches. He knew that he needed to appeal to Germany, and what better way there was other than blame their loss in WW2 on the minority? There was not much evidence showing what he said, but whatever he said, it definitely worked on the demoralized German citizens.

These two causes are what made Hitler so successful in his campaign. He was able to appease to the crowd, by just not only making Jews the scapegoat and making his charisma into great speeches. With his Nazi Party, he was able to give jobs to those who needed it, the 40%, and shelter to others. This was the biggest cause that would lead to his government position, and from his government position was when he was able to establish his dictatorship.
