I believe when used in the correct situation telehealth can be incredible helpful and useful. Don't forget, a virtual appointment is never the same as an in-person appointment. Seeing and touching patients brings a connection that cannot be met with a virtual session. Virtual sessions with providers you have never met brings a sort of disconnect. It is like going to an urgent care or an emergency department, you will likely see a different provider every time depending on what time of day, or day of the week or facility you are going to. Then again what can be dialing in to a provider to get an immediate appointment right from home when your kids are sick or you have a headache and you don't want to get into the care and drive 15 minutes across town. I think telehealth can be a great thing, but when used properly and when programs are aware of their limits and know when to refer patients for in person visits.
