Based on reading this article, I do believe that the author provided great insights and tips on a successful first date. The author really understands how to use methods of communication and apply it to dating. Additionally, he stresses on the concept of letting the other partner talk as two way communication is key. One critique I can make about this is that the dater does not have to follow this article rule by rule. For example, the author said to have five stories in mind. While that may be a great conversation filler, there should not be so much pressure into impressing the date with stories. Sometimes the best way to communicate with a date is to talk about something they have in common. Also, while the reader should take these rules into consideration, there should be no pressure into actually following these rules precisely. The rules can be rather used as a guide to advise the daters how to communicate if there is moments of silence. These rules are good "conversation fillers." My advice is to go with the flow and do not have these rules dictate how the date is going to go.

The life stages presented in class offers many insights into the realm of dating and relationships. The life stage that is the most complicated is adolescence and sexually transmitted diseases and unplanned pregnancies. It is obvious that when a partner has an STD, it can cause problems within a relationship because the other partner may not be willing to have sex with each other. Not being sexually active can have a negative impact on a relationship. Also, unplanned pregnancies can sometimes pose as a burden to partners. There are many different opinions when it comes to abortion or adoption services. Many people are not willing to abort a baby or raise a baby. Different viewpoints within a relationship can cause the two lovers to have relationship difficulties.

Of the life stages, I think that Adolescence, and the growth and development a person has to do in that time is one of the more complicated ones, specifically in their mental health development and how they build relationships and engage in intimate activity. It's complexity comes, in my opinion, from being dependent on how successful you are in previous stages at developing your sense of self and connection with others, allowing a lot more factors in this stage, and having to consciously navigate both yourself and others, as they try to do the same.

I think adolescence is the hardest life stage in my opinion because it really is the time when you are figuring out who you are as person. You also in that time may be experiencing a lot of new things in your life. A lot of "firsts" For example being in your first serious relationship. That can cause a lot of different kind of stress in your life that you may have never had before.

Something from the article that I believe is consistent with what people in their 20's would do is try to respond proportionally. I think that regardless of age having a balanced conversation is important. From and young to older adult, no one wants to date someone talks to someone who takes over the conversation and doesn't seem to be interested in what you have to say. Likewise, I don't think anyone would enjoy having a partner who gives two word responses. However, something from the article that I believe is inconsistent with what people in their 20's would do is come prepared with four good questions and five stories. In all, I've never head of these rules. As far as I know, most 20 year old go with the flow and let the conversation guide themselves.

First date, relationship, sexual experience etc. There are also many new responsibilities and possible consequences. Many adolescents are beginning to work and drive. Also they may begin to engage in sexual activities that have many serious consequences such as sexually transmitted diseases and unplanned pregnancies. Overall, it seems like it the adolescence stage encompasses the most life changes in general, making it the most complicated.

Something that I found in the article that I believe is consistent with some people in their 20's would do is rule #1. Respond Accordingly. This is because many people have dated others in the past that either talk too much or don't seem interested in the conversation. It's difficult dating someone who interrupts you every time you try to comment on something and he or she doesn't let you talk. If you are too brief, it will make you seem like you are not interested in trying to have a decent conversation with the other person. It should be equal among both people. Also rule 5 because this is a way to show the other person more about your personal experiences and it's more helpful into getting to know you rather than just asking questions.

The Lifestage that I think is the most complicated would have to be the adolescence stage. Many start to wonder, explore, and experience sexual activities. The start of new relationships and heartbreaks can mentally and emotionally affect teens lives, especially teen-age girls. This can be a difficult time for people because this is the age span where they are trying to figure who they and also start to explore many different routes. People will judge you for being you and this might not be easy for teenagers to handle.

I feel like today people have learned to talk the right amount because from their experience on other dates. I agree with the "if she says a few sentences, you say a few sentences." I believe it's better to talk more than just be brief because then it'll be awkward trying to ask a next question. Something that is inconsistent is the tacky compliments. I feel that some men like using the same cliche compliments that they have told several other girls. You should be creative and chill about it not too extra.

This is because this is the stage in life when a person is developing their identity which can be affected by many factors. They are still reliant on family for care usually, and are experimenting with their idea of self which is intrigual to how they develop into adults.

After reading the article, something that I believe is consistent that people still do in their 20's is that they respond proportionally. Communication is key in any friendship or relationship, and its important that to be able to have back and forth conversation with people while being in tempo so both of you can balance each other out. Something from the article that I believe is inconsistent is that you should come prepared with four good questions or five stories. I think its best for people to go with the flow and communicate in whatever way the conversation leads them to.

After reading this article, one thing that really stood out to me was the realization that senior adults may need dating tips or dating advise just like any other person new to dating. I never really thought about that before. Many seniors may have dated years ago and only dated the same person. Finding yourself without a mate after years of being in a relationship with one person may be very anxiety provoking and scary. Personally, I do not like to rely on ‘dating tips. I would prefer to just ‘go with the flow’. However, dating tips for seniors may be helpful as a guide. I believe the dating tips highlighted in the article could be very helpful for many seniors getting back out on the dating scene.

Going back to the life stages that we have previously discussed in class, I think adolescence is the most complicated one of all. This is because this is usually around the time where most of us are confused and conflicted with ourselves and with what we want to do. This is why adolescence is such a crucial stage, because it experiences many first when experiencing many changes like physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development. What also happens is that many people in this stage are lost and trying to figure out their identity through relationships and breakups as well. Due to these factors, it is why this stage is complicated because it plays a big role and affects the development of adults.

Of the life stages that we discussed, I believe the adolescent stage, Stage 5-Identity vs. Confusion may be the hardest stage to go through. During this stage an adolescent is going through many changes physically and mentally. Adolescents start to seek more independence for their lives, but still might not be able to make all decisions for themselves, due to laws. During this stage, the adolescent starts trying to understand who they are. This can be a very confusing time in a person’s life. According to Erikson, those, in this stage, who receive proper encouragement and reinforcement through personal exploration will emerge through this stage with a strong sense of self and can develop successful relationships. Erickson believed those who do not receive proper encouragement and reinforcement through personal exploration will emerge through this stage as confused and may suffer, isolation, loneliness, and depression.

I already knew men were too inept to romantically interact with women, but when the author laid out his five rules all I could think was damn... it's this bad, huh fellas? Lack of social cues aside, people in their twenties definitely adhere to tip #5-- having stories lined up. I couldn't tell you how many shitty stories I've had to listen to on first dates and how many times I've had to feign some sort of interest in them. Though since we are college aged, most of these stories tend to be about frat parties, drunkenly disorderliness, and the like. Young people definitely put a spin on what AARP advises.

Not only is "adolescence" the hardest life stage to spell, it is also the hardest life stage to mentally go through. A wise man once told me ages 15-25 are the most important years of your life-- and the most difficult ones to boot. Identity is so integral to a young person and not feeling like you belong lands you in a world of turmoil. This confusion is the catalyst to many problems and can prevent adolescents from growing as people and entering the next stage. Adolescence is such an odd intermediary state too-- you're dependent on your family, but you're also not. You're still learning, but you should have many things already figured out... lots of double negatives. I am no fan of adolescence.

Personally, this is kind of a big thing for me as a first date because one it shows interest in the other person's life, but also presents as being interested in what the other person has to say and really taking the time to listen and learn. I don't think a lot of people do this anymore, especially around my age and it can be very frustrating and hard to find someone who is completely focused on you and your thoughts, dreams, and goals.

I believe that adolescence is a very difficult stage because it is where we are most developing and figuring out who we are as people. It could take years for some. I know personally I am still trying to figure out what I want out of life and how I will strive to get their. Additionally, it is a confusing time because you are also trying to understand those around you and what you want out of them.

I think out of the life stages that adolescence is the most challenging. This is when we are developing a lot of characteristics that we will continue to carry through out our lives. We also have to make a lot of hard decisions during this time period that reflect who we are and who we will be. It can be confusing trying to figure out our way.

I think the author did a really good job on giving someone almost a, "tool belt," for a first date. These are things you want to have prepared so you can continue to communicate. I can imagine that for some people a first date can be a little nerve racking and they may not think to even cover these things at any time. With that said, I am to sure if any of these are applicable. I think, maybe, people in their 20's do this anyway but in their own versions. I think the difference would be that for someone in their 20s these things would not necessarily make or break a date. It would probably make it better, though! People in their 20s have a hard time opening up, being vulnerable, an expressing interests... especially on a first date!
