         <description><![CDATA[<div>After Scott appealed for his freedom the court ruled that African Americans were not citizens of the US and could not sue. Abolitionists were out raged because they saw this ruling as a way to stop the debate about slavery. Black people were still not considered equal and they had no rights even in “free states”.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Nat Turner was an enslaved man who lead a rebellion that lead to a massacre of up to 200 black people and a new wave of oppressive legislation prohibiting the education, movement, and assembly of enslaved people. Nat turner destroyed the white southern myth that slaves were actually happy with their lives or too docile to undertake a violent rebellion.</div>]]></description>

This act allowed states that were already non-slave states to become slave states which was bad for the black people in those areas.</div>]]></description>
