This room was built in the eighteenth (18) century, and is thus denominated because in it are exposed, in polychrome terracotta, the statues of the kings of Portugal from D. Afonso Henriques to D. José with the exception of the 3 filipes.

        The walls, as we can see, are covered by seventeenth-century panels of Rococo tiles, in which the monastery's legendary foundation is represented.

        Initially this room was constituted by 23 statues, being currently conserved only 19 because some were damaged by the French invasions.

        On this wall is represented the coronation of D. Afonso Henriques by Pope Alexander III and Saint Bernard.

        The monks slept dressed because of the cold, and also to be prepared for the night prayers, in which the monks went down the steps of the matine that connected directly to the church to pray.

        These small squares served for the monks to store their belongings.

        At the end of the XVI (16) sixteenth century, the dormitory was divided, leaving the central nave as a corridor for access to the rooms on the two aisles.
