      <description>My vision for my class and school is that we will integrate students into digital citizenship at the beginning of the school year for all grade levels. Our staff will be adept in differentiating technological apps based on subject matter, pedagogical strategies, and student&#39;s needs. Students will have more agency in their learning and creation of evidence based learning for assessments.</description>

         <title>Where would you like your students/staff/curriculum to be in the future? How will you get there?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>In the future, staff will be efficient in differentiating apps utilizing the TPACK model, by integrating the pedagogical, technological, and subject content based on the needs of the students and the standards that need to be assessed. In order to get there, we must be intentional about educating students on digital citizenship and safety. We can scaffold the integration of technology in our lessons from there using the TPACK model. </p><p><br/></p><p>According to (Parker &amp; Harding, 2022), "When technology tools are effectively integrated into the curriculum, they can extend learning in powerful ways. These tools can provide students and teachers with:</p><ul><li><p>access to up-to-date primary source material</p></li><li><p>methods of collecting/recording data</p></li><li><p>ways to collaborate with students, teachers and experts around the world</p></li><li><p>opportunities for expressing understanding via multimedia</p></li><li><p>learning that is relevant and assessment that is authentic</p></li></ul><p>training for publishing and presenting their new knowledge".</p>]]></description>

         <title>Do you believe technology will significantly change/has significantly changed education?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Technology has and continues to significantly impact education. From a practical standpoint, I remember as a child that we used to use scantron papers to fill out the answers for standardized tests on paper. Today, all assessments in elementary school is done on Ipads and laptops. Substitution models are used with technology to have stories read to students. Now, we are transitioning into more AI tools to assist educators in lesson planning and creating tools for student authentic engagement with content using technology.</p><p><br></p><p>According to Pitler, H. (2024). Chapter 1, "With the advent of the internet and the rise in mobile devices and personal computing becoming more affordable Apple saw the need to update the ACOT research. They launched the "Apple Classrooms of Tomorrow - Today" (ACOT<sup>2</sup>) research. While the original ACT study looked at the impact technology had on teaching and learning, the ACOT<sup>2&nbsp;</sup>research focused on what do to and how to do it. The ACOT<sup>2&nbsp;</sup>researchers were trying to create a "specific action plan that would ensure the new digital generation of students would receive the type of education they needed to learn and stay in school" (Couch, 2018, p.82). One of the findings of the research highlighted the importance of hands-on, constructivist learning. Rather than relying</p><p>on instruction manuals and scripted instruction, educators need to move to an active learning environment."</p>]]></description>

         <title>What are your BEST hopes for PreK-12 technology in education? What are your WORST fears?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>My best hopes for PreK-12 is that we have students that are becoming more aware of digital safety and digital citizenship at a young age. I also hope that technology in PreK-12 will be used more effectively for students to become more critical thinkers and globally connected to others around the world. My worst fear is that students will abuse technology and will not be cultivated in how to engage effectively. This could be a straying away from objective truths because of the lack of critically thinking and vetting sources for credibility. </p><p><br></p><p>We are living in a post-truth world (Pitler, H. (2024). Chapter 6).</p><p>In their article&nbsp;<a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://medium.com/@heinemann/seriously-seriously-fef109d46e30">Seriously? Seriously.,</a>&nbsp;Turner and Hicks (2018) talk about living in a post-truth world. Post-truth, they write "this happens when we retweet and share&nbsp;<a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://theconversation.com/why-do-we-fall-for-fake-news-69829">without critical reading</a>. It happens when information remains in a&nbsp;filter bubble. And it happens when&nbsp;<a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="http://www.snopes.com/2016/01/14/fake-news-sites/">individuals and corporations can hide in anonymity while sharing fake news</a>. As it happens, we can fall prey to misinformation."</p>]]></description>

         <title>What should be happening in our schools and what do our learning environments need to facilitate these activities?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Our schools must introduce digital citizenship in Kindergarten and continue to be taught as children matriculate through school. Our learning environments must be differentiated technologically based on the learning needs but teachers must also be trained on the variation that is needed in applications that address the auditory, kinesthetic, visual needs of the students.</p><p><br></p><p>Another great view of digital citizenship comes from Dr. Mike Ribble in his Kappa Delta Pi article,&nbsp;<a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://eds-s-ebscohost-com.emporiastate.idm.oclc.org/eds/detail/detail?vid=0&amp;sid=5e463e81-0403-4577-b550-d61b4aafc571%40redis&amp;bdata=JnNpdGU9ZWRzLWxpdmU%3d">Digital&nbsp;Citizenship for Educational Change"</a>&nbsp;(2012). In that article, Ribble defines digital citizenship as the "norms of appropriate, responsible behavior with regard to technology use." Ribble also introduces a framework of nine elements that help to define and organize the topics being addressed with regard to technology (Pitler, H. (2024). Chapter 6).</p>]]></description>

         <title>What challenges do you face personally regarding technology? Your students? Your staff? Your school/district?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>My most impactful challenge is frustration with organizing applications in order of standard assessment, subject matter, and using the various strategies of pedagogy. I am also learning new apps and trying to navigate through the nuances and costs associated with those apps that are not free. My students are very engaged with technology but not using the right sites for the purposes of learning. My students also may get distracted by playing the games that they enjoy during instruction.  I believe staff are struggling with controlling what apps students can access on their devices. In my district, there is not much emphasis on integrating technology more in instruction. </p>]]></description>
